As a big Conan fan since my childhood I have always wanted to read every Conan story ever written so I purchased, purloined, or procured Conan books in any way that I could. I finally have done it! I completed my collection of all the Conan tales (that I know of.)
I know many Conan fans aren't as lucky as me so I decided why not share a synopsis and review of each story with you....so let us begin.
Conan the Cimmerian was introduced to the world in december of 1932 in Weird Tales Magazine in a short story called The Phoenix on the Sword written by a little published pulp writer Robert E. Howard. It was a rewrite of a King Kull tale that he had written earlier but this time the editor accepted the story and a sword swinging barbarian of the north was born.
In his lifetime, Robert E. Howard wrote 21 Tales about the mighty barbarian and had 5 other stories that were either synopses or fleshed out fragments of tales that were never completed. (all of these were later completed by others.) Most of these were in the short story format although he wrote one full length novel about Conan: The Hour of the Dragon. A good number of these tales first saw print and thus became available to the public in Weird Tales, one of the popular pulp magazines of the day. Tragically Robert took his own life. The Conan character, a brilliant Howard creation has continued to live on however, and has become a well known word in the popular lexicon.
Other writers have picked up the fallen torch and the unfinished tales by Howard were completed and new tales about Conan have come forth. These pastiche authors,
(Pastiche: a literary, artistic, musical, or architectural work that imitates the style of previous work; also : such stylistic imitation Merriam Webster dictionary)
have continued to spin tales about the adventures of Conan and the Hyborian world he inhabited. there are currently (as of 2006) 105 stories about Conan (not including comic books, screen plays, role playing gaming books, etc) and more than a dozen stories about other characters in his world. some have been very good pastiches; that is to say a good imitation of Robert E. Howard's style of writing and his character Conan; others have been a poor imitation indeed obscuring the character or his world so greatly that it scarcely resembles Howard's work at all.
I have collected these tales and would like to share my thoughts with you on them and give a brief synopsis of each tale so others who do not have the stories mentioned could at least know what they are about.
The 105 Conan tales are comprised as follows:

Many non-Conan short stories have appeared in Amra fanzine and in books like Spell of Conan (f.p. July 1980 ACE) and Blade of Conan (f.p. May 1979 ACE), The Conan Reader (1968 Mirage Press), the Conan Swordbook, (Mirage Press 1969), and The Conan Grimore (1972 Mirage Press) all of which are collections of articles or short stories that first appeared in AMRA.
Only two Hyborian characters emerged in their own novels: Red Sonja and Arquel of Argos, until the Age of Conan series by ACE brought us new adventures of Hyborian heroes such as Kern, Anok, and Kral.
