I bet that some people will have their excellent and cheap HD cameras with them to make some videos, so there is no way a cool trailer will not make it to YoutubeI am with you, Wandering Star! A holiday release with a first class distributor is good news, indeed. If the American distributors do hold off for a while longer, I think they will change their minds when "Solomon Kane" is a thunderous success in Europe. Thundarr, an old ComicCon hand, has a good feeling about the buzz the film is going to pick up at ComicCon and so do I. Mr. Bassett mentioned a teaser trailer to be shown in San Diego along with some clips of the film. Does that mean it will be coming to the web in the near future?

Mr. Bassett also has access to Youtube, but it's up to him to choose where he wants to debut it.
Well, I wonder if Mr. Bassett is in a position to release anything without the express approval of Davis Films. I hope they will see the need to take the wraps off "Solomon Kane" and begin promoting it now. Let us say, just for the sake of argument, that Davis Films (like a lot of other independents) has reached a stone wall with the U.S. distributors. Some new leverage may be needed. That could be provided by a widespread surge of fan interest on the web. One sure way to stir that up is to release a trailer, clips, stills, and let the actors start talking (at least a little bit) about the film on the fan sites. This may undercut their carefully planned PR campaign or press junkets down the road, but there might not be any road left to travel if they don't stir up a greater buzz in the meantime.

[Bassett] "I?ve never made it to Comic Con before and I?ll be taking in the sites for the Friday and Saturday ? hoping to catch a few sneaky looks at the upcoming blockbusters as well as actually checking out some comics. I noticed that there?s a Gary Gianni retrospective on Saturday which I?ll certainly try and get to as he?s been as responsible as anyone for how Kane looks in all our minds? eyes. Hope to see some of you there."
[Poster] "The official release of the film is in a holding pattern at the moment. As far as I know, they are still looking for a distributor. However, from those lucky few that have seen a screening of the film, the reviews often state it is "the best sword and sorcery movie I have ever seen. This is the one film that I have always looked forward to and every review I have seen (of both the movie and the director's talent) has given me nothing but hope of its greatness."
I think "Kane" is going to get a very warm reception at the ComicCon if a few of the REH fans will cut it a little slack for taking liberties. Don't let the presentation day listed by Bassett throw you off, as it has since been changed to Saturday (a better day for the presentation, too). I think it is revealing about Bassett that he wanted to check out the Gary Gianni retrospective on Saturday. The guy's a fan, himself. Too bad the change in screening days will mean he will have to pass it up.

Other than that I'm just dropping by to give WS and Bassett a pat on the back for checking in and making San Diego happen. Afraid I'm among the masses who can't attend, and am eagerly awaiting as much as possible to find its way to the web.

Enlightening pic, thundarr. I was just wondering, when the theater fills up for a presentation like "Lost," are the audience members allowed to remain for the next presentation or do that have to leave?
AFAIK the audience is allowed to stick around for as long as they want - the halls are not emptied inbetween.

Thanks for the info, Jay. Allows more time for the next presentation, if you don't mind all those people headed for the restrooms.

The trailer will be ready for Comicon based on the progress i saw last night. Its looking great. We took a stab at it here in the UK and it looked very good but somehting was missing...so we turned to the USA folks in LA to do one to compare the vision. The LA one wins and sound mix starts next week to get it ready in time for Comicon. Its blistering! Got there in the end, like everything about this film we all agonise over every detail until its right. Worth it though. Very excited to be placing the film before such a core fan base.Mr. Bassett also has access to Youtube, but it's up to him to choose where he wants to debut it.

Hold your breath for just... mh.. the whole presentation and give us a record of the presentation
PLEASE!
Well, if you could bring along a Hi-Definition Camcorder with a directional sound mike and maybe a separately mounted lighting system with their own power source, that would be okay, too, Puritan.

I sense a great deal of fun coming out of this Comicon! The PR folks are going to be busy keeping an eye on the web action. Just working on getting a widget together within the month which will have some great footage and interviews posted. Will keep you posted as this forum will be the first to know.

Now you're talkin', WS! That's just what "Kane" needs (besides a U.S. distributor). Just what we've been waiting for. Cruising around the web I often run across similar conversations on the fansites. Several posters will express their panting anticipation for the film, and then several others will ask them what it's all about. Your PR guys need to get the word out across the web. For instance, if they were to serve up some reflections from Mr. Purefoy on how much he loved that cape his words will echo across the web, I promise you.
Stress the S&S/horror angle for the fanboys and the high adventure for the Boomers. If you lead them they will come. You can feel the anticipation out their for a film like "Kane". There is an ocean of good will for it. That is why I think it is going to go over big at the ComicCon.
Decent of you, as always, to keep us posted with a "heads-up" to follow. I know I will be keeping an eye out for it.
