I named my daughter Cimmeria Khitai almost 30 years ago and have yet to find any other named from REH writings. If you know of any. I am most interested in hearing about them.

Okay , now that's a dedicated REH fan ! How do you pronounce that (phonetically I mean ) & Has your daughter always been happy with her names ?

" You have a good point there,...put your helmet on & no-one will notice it ."
" Look for a long time at what pleases you... and longer still at what pains you "
So THIS is civilization ??!??!......

My daughter is named "Kitara" after a character in a Dragonlance novel "Kitiara" ...i thought the original name was just too many sylables...so i took the i out...but its definitely an homage to that character!

She Who Must Be Obeyed put the mockers on all of my name suggestions, so the Daughter of Darkness was called Lillian. A fine name in and of itself, though as we call her by the diminutive Lilly - several people who know me well have assumed I called her Lilith...chortle.

I can just picture it.

"Thuria! Clean up your room, it looks like a cataclysm hit it!"

"Atlantis, you're all wet behind the ear."

"Khari, Lemuria is not your slave"

"Cimmeria, you and Pict stop fighting this instant! I don't care who started it."

"No Stygia, you can't have a pet snake."

"Shadizar, you're wicked"

An example from H. Rider Haggard. :)

And lets not forget all the Sonyas(and Sonjas).
When I hear someone use the name "Conan" it is not Conan O'Brien that comes to mind, even though more likely thats who they are talking about.

My son is named Cormac Grey. I came up with Cormac; my ex came up with Grey. She's not a Howard fan and didn't realize I was naming him after a Howard character. But, Grey is suitably Howardian.

My son was born on 11th June this year and we have called him Conan :) We went through about twenty Old Norse and Saxon names too, but just kept coming back to Conan.

He's a strong liitle fellow already at six weeks and has a vicelike grip! I'll be making him a wooden sword for his first toy and one of his earliest photographs (while still in hospital) was grasping my Conan the Warrior paperback in both hands ;) I'm a proud Dad!!

Awwww he's so cute :) .
I forsee him growing up to tread the cities of the modern world under his sandled feet, defeating great and mighty enemies on the school play grounds, and becoming President by his own hand.

I like that idea!

As soon as he's old enough he'll be set on the course to greatness! ;)
