There are reports circulating that Ernie Chan has passed away. Very sad news coming right after Tony DeZuniga. :(

I am glad I was able to meet him and tell him how much I enjoyed his work and how much it meant to me; he signed the first issue of the Conan comic I ever had and did a Belit sketch for me at the local comic shop a couple of years ago.

This is so sad. I just got an email from Ernie 2 weeks ago. He said his health wasn't good, because I asked him if he knew Tony DeZeniga, very well. Ernie did all of the artwork for The Darkslayer books I have written. It is tragic. I met with him at pittsburgh Comic Con last year, and he was so nice and friendly. It was a dream come true working with him because he was my favorite Conan artist. He was my friend and I will miss him dearly.

I'll post more on him later, but I am truly upset by this.

After wondering for decades, I found out just in the past month he was the artist on my first issue of Batman, Detective #447 (I'd lost the front page to it long ago). Thanks for the great work, you will be missed.

I met him at a convention, all alone at his booth, surrounded by his art, on sale for a pittance. He was friendly and kind.
I'm going back to my old avatar, which is his Conan, colorized digitally.

This is tragic news. When I started buying Conan comics I always looked to see if he was the artist.
For many years his was the definative Conan in my mind's eye.

Ah, Conan the Barbarian 76, one of my favorite issues, in no small part because of Chan's incredible artwork.

Sad news, really.
One of the best Conan artists ever to grace comic books. His work will forever be remembered as one of the most beautiful of all.

Great artist, with Buscema one of the few that could keep a crazy schedule, his output was huge. Definitely a legend. A drink to his shade...

issue 76 so good an issue and his work was excellent, from a fellow artist that wishes he could draw a 10th of what he could draw like.
