I think it was a combonation of all of the above.

His sick mom and the fact this wruting didn't get the recognition he felt it deserved.

He also felt that it was cruel irony that the sick, elderly, infirmed died. He said that he would much prefer to die suddenly and in the prime of his life. His writing refelcts this sentiment. REH heros are always the types to go out fighting and with their boots on.

He also tell Conan not to depend on beasts.

Conan ends up havin to put a hurt on that cheeky camel, so that part was right.

Yes a MMORPG is a game like Everquest, Star Wars Galaxy, Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft (currentlly hooked on.)

I'd play a Conan MMO. The Hyborian age would be a sweet setting. All the races make it perfect. If given the choice I'd want to be one of the prehistoric ape men like Thrak.

I'll second Gabriel Byrnne.  If he was a little taller and toned to fit the rangey, wolf like physique that SK had he would a great pick to play everyone's favorite Puritan fanatic.

Hate to bring up the crass topic of race, but Vin does not have the right complexion.  Yeah Conan had sun bronzed skin, but he was still Cauacasian/Northern European extract .  I don't think Vin could pull it off.
