3D is the big deal in movies nowadays, and Conan the Barbarian is no exception. But I'm an inherently thrifty person (my wife says I crossed the line between thrifty and cheap a long time ago, and am rapidly headed for stingy territory... but I digress), so I carefully consider whether I should spend the extra money to see Conan in 3D.
My big issue is that a lot of 3D movies are dark and dingy -- when I saw Toy Story 3 last year, I could barely make out what was going on, and Green Lantern looked like I was watching the movie through a gauze filter. The issue is that 3D movies require more light to work properly, but movie theatres lower the light intensity on their projector bulbs to make them last longer. As a result, crappy 3D.
I saw Thor and Captain America in 2D, and I can't say I missed the 3D. Now, with Conan coming out this month, I can't say I'm eager to shell out extra money for a process that isn't perfected yet, so I'll be seeing Conan in good old-fashioned 2D. After all, if a movie is good enough, it becomes 3D in your mind.
How about it, fellow Hyborians? Which one will you be seeing, 2D or 3D?
