That's fine, and I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you, Svent. As Monk noted early on, however, this is a fun, "shoot the shyte", speculative/informative thread about the LOOK of a possible Conan cable series (one that will probably never be made in any fashion) with an eye towards keeping that "look" fairly faithful to what Robert E. Howard stated. It really has nothing to do with the characterization of Conan himself in such a hypothetical series. This thread looks at just one facet of that production.

The thread discussing all facets of a Conan cable series (characterization, format, what-have-you) can be found here:

Hope that helps.   :)

No problem.  I am enjoying the conversation, and hopefully I haven't detracted from anyone else's enjoyment thereof.  If I have one failing, when it comes to conversation, it's that I tend to get a little longwinded, sometimes more than others.  Part of the southerner in me.  :D  I guess I have gotten a little off-track, and I'll try to get back on the topic as it should be.

wind on brethren, wind on...

and trust us the characterization is important to most people here as well. in a perfect world - and even not so perfect - we can have it all.

"Our basic purist premise:
ROBERT E. HOWARD, ENTIRELY ALONE, WITHOUT ASSISTANCE FROM ANY OTHER PERSON, CREATED THE CHARACTER CONAN OF CIMMERIA. NO OTHER PERSON OR PERSONS SHOULD BE INTRUDING THEIR WORK INTO THE VOLUMES OF HOWARD'S CONAN STORIES.
In essence, we believe that the work of any creative artist -- writer, painter, illustrator, musician, what-have-you -- is a unique expression of an artistic point of view. It should not be appropriated or altered by others without the artist's consent. No other writer has Robert E. Howard's unique point of view, and no other writer knows what Howard would have done with his character had he lived. Upon his death, his canon, the expression of his artistic vision, became fixed. Tampering with it now is desecration."

Hey Monk, could you upload a leather jerkin or something similar that might be donned by lightly armored fellows? It just came in my mind that we often tend to pay attention only to heavier armor.

Brigandine (front panel) Italy (?), early 16th Century Medium: linen, yellow velvet; steel plates and brass rivets Measurements: Overall: 56.5cm x 47.6cm Date: c. 1500-1525 Gift of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Severance 1921.1250 Location: Armor Court spacer.gif The brigandine is a light, vestlike body defense popular with both knights and infantry from the 1400s through about 1550. It is constructed of multiple small plates attached to a cloth covering. Finer examples, like this one, are faced in velvet or fabric made of gold thread. The lightweight brigandine provided pro-tection from the weather, and was extremely flexible.

And while the fallen king stared with burning eyes that reflected the bitter rage and humiliation that ate his

heart, the squires stripped Valannus of mail shirt, burganet and leg-pieces, and clad him in Conan's armor of

black plate-mail, with the vizored salade, and the dark plumes nodding over the wivern crest. Over all they put

the silken surcoat with the royal lion worked in gold upon the breast, and they girt him with a broad

gold-buckled belt which supported a jewel- hilted broad-sword in a cloth-of-gold scabbard. While they

worked, trumpets clamored outside, arms clanged, and across the river rose a deep-throated roar as squadron

after squadron swung into place.

Full-armed, Vallanus dropped to his knee and bent his plumes before the figure that lay on the dais.

"Lord king, Mitra grant that I do not dishonor the harness I wear this day!"
