Looks like there was actually some news in here we missed.  In the editor's note to the first letter, it was confirmed that there will be a new series starting with the adaption of the Shumballah fragment (Fred mentioned in another interview, and it's also mentioned here, that they will call it Witch Hunter of Kush).  That will take up the first three issues and Brian Ching will be doing the art.  So it looks like revolving artists will still be the norm, at least for now.  We should see the official solicits some time in the upcoming week.

Brian Ching also worked on Skaar (son of Hulk). Since there is an ongoing joke about how much Skaar resembles Conan, maybe it will give some idea of how Ching might draw Conan. :) Although the rough sketches posted above might hint that they plan to go for a more lean approach.

Yeah, I bet you and the whole Conan world would be perfectly happy, Johnny.

If Ching can deliver Conan stories just like this sketch he should he hired to work on Conan for life. This is one of the most beautiful sketches I have seen in the last years and it is right there beside John Buscema and Barry Smith`s work.

It is just outstanding. The legs are a little too short though.

A lean approach is much better. Conan should not look as muscular as this guy. It is exaggerated.

Loving that!   But again, my only criticism is Conan's scrawny little chicken legs.

Going to move this to it's own topic, I think...

I agree that Conan should not look like the son of Hulk. :) But I also don't think the 'grandpa' look on the raw sketch is all too hot. It's just a sketch so looking forward to seeing more detailled drawings soon.

A lot of discussion considering he might be around for just three issues and that's the real shame. Brian's work is more than adequate, some will think great and some not so hot, but it is as good as most and better than some. And just when he adjusts to the character and we learn to appreciate his work, we will again have the rug pulled out from under us by Dark Horse. I really don't get their reasoning and I'm getting disgusted by being whipsawed.

I asked Fred Van Lente, and the plan is to keep Brian Ching as the permanent artist, and use fill-in artists only when absolutely necessary. He is also not a fan of the rotating artist style.

And just to add ... the "3-issue story arc with artist change" was specifically Brian Wood's idea. That was something he brought to the table, and it exits with him.

I'm curious to see what Brian Ching's finished art on CONAN will look like.  The above sketch shows a decent understanding of the kind of setting that's right for the character, but the style is too scratchy IMO.  The clean line with grey-tones of his Star Wars art is nice, and harkens back to the SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN ink-washed art.  Some of the art from Ching's SKAAR run isn't far from a good approach for CONAN either:
