So how's your workout program coming along, big guy?

I ended up developing a chest cold from heck that put me out of action for a while and 2 weeks ago is started back up but decided to stick with the Old York Courses that Bob Hoffman promoted =)

Yeah, it's rough to recover from a layoff. I took a month off of squats to heal my sacro-iliac; now I'm back to square one, especially concerning recovery. Oh, for Cimmerian genetics! :)

It's simple to get Cimmerian genetics just read a Conan yarn and BOOM instant cimmerian when it comes to the next workout.

I think I've seen that available in powder form, with a choice of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry flavors....

Have you tried changing up the type of squats, maybe box-squats or some unilateral work? If you find the right variant you might be able to continue training just enough to maintain your strength and work capacity.

Remember Folks for Cimmerian might and muscle just add 1 scoop of "Cimmerian Protein Mix" to your glass of ale and you too can have the genetics of a Cimmerian.

Wouldn't that be nice. Unfortunately injuries and illness happen, the key is finding a way of working through or around them.

i have actually been considering trying to find an affordable "weight vest" so i can simulate wearing armor while i jog. (funny that i don't think i could ever say that to my gym friends but can say it confortably on a fanatsy-based post) Anyone else do this?

I'm coming off my clavicle fracture (only bone I've ever broken). Put on a few pounds. I'll be back out with the axe and chainsaw soon. :)

picked up some two for one protein with oats mix. 1250 calories and 50g protein. lord have mercy it's a bugger to digest.
did a blast at the gym, come home and had a pile of watercress, rocket and spinach, black and green olives, a little bit of feta, turkey breast and spanish sausage, then one of those shakes with 100g almonds in it.

feel like mr fckn creosote now.

I'm back from my MovNat workshop. As I thought, a great day in the park, learning or re-learning various primal movement patterns. Most of us chucked our shoes after a while (this was just park grass).

For the "walking" portion of the class, sort of a warmup, we played a game of follow-the-leader, in which our instructor, Brian, made up various scenarios from Jurassic Park, where we needed to change our gait, crouch, walk backwards, etc.

We did some balancing on a concrete curb, climbed some trees, did some rolling and crawling, jumping, running, all kinds of things. It was great fun, and a very decent workout.

This someone else's video showing some of the techniques for climbing:

I'm not a MovNat zombie, but I'm impressed with the principles and the program in general. Will this become the next fitness craze? Don't know, don't care. I do know that I will incorporate this into my routine, and share my experience with my workout partners.

Very cool. The RKC system is about movement as much as it is about Strength. Nice.

RKC, I assume is = Russian Kettlebells? For me, these are still just "exercises" for "zoo humans".
Would this kid (or Conan for that matter) have any use for kettlebells? You'd have to get him down from his tree and teach him to "exercise". I can't think of anything more absurd.

Yes the RKC system uses Kettlebells but they are just a tool. They have bodyweight and barbell seminars/books/dvds as well.

I have turned my work into a workout and man do I love working at Lowes. So far my weight has dropped from 298 to 270 and my waist went from a size 46 to a 37 ( I say 37 because some pants are 38 and some are 36) so I spend 8 hours a day, 5 times a week working out :)
