I'll get to read all of Imaro.
But it stinks that there aren't enough heroic fantasy fans out there to keep Saunders work in print even on a small-press level.
Sounds like the author is down to Print on Demand.
Which gets the job done.
But all those years of hard work and imagination aren't going to translate into much in the way of cash or recognition for the author.
Damn shame.

I hope somebody publishes the rest of the books.
It would be nice if some Indy publisher would do the whole series with the same artist and do hardcovers etc.

Heads up, y'all! Just found out (by way of Leo Grin's Cimmerian blog) that Saunders plans on getting out the rest of the Imaro books, come monsoons or the Mashataan.
P.O.D., if necessary.
Great! This means we might actually have a hardcover option.

Hey Primeval! Don't hold me to it, but I believe the extraneous tales will be in the fifth Night Shade volume. If you're talking about "Mzee", it appeared in an issue of Dragon? magazine. A good buddy (an Imaro fan) loaned it to me.
Thanks Deuce - I will have to try and track that down.
Hey Primeval! So, were you successful in your quest?

LINK>>>>> http://www.lulu.com/content/2322980
This project has been a total team effort and a culmination of the talents of Bro. Charles R. Saunders (author/griot extraordinaire) first and foremost, and the artistic genius of Bro. Mshindo Kuumba (Cover Illustrator)...... and to a lesser extent, myself (designer, point-man and publisher.)
The print on demand model has been a total success and leaves room for several major projects and announcements that are soon to come.
You ain't seen nothin' yet!!!!!!!!!! (Believe that.)
If you are a fan of fantastic fiction and fantasy that literally leaps off the page and challenges your imagination and senses, then this book is a MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!

For me, Saunders falls behind only REH and Gemmell (and maybe ties with Gemmell if I had to make a list). However, after seeing how the first Imaro book put out by Night Shade fell apart as I read it I did not order the second one. I will have to get a copy now if the saga is being continued.
I still can't believe there isn't more of a demand for Saunders' stuff.

...I have decided to continue the Imaro saga via print-on-demand. Actually, a print-on-demand publication of a book featuring my other major character, the black Amazon Dossouye, is now available at www.lulu.com. The publisher is Sword & Soul Media.
Later this year, Sword & Soul will publish my three remaining Imaro novels. I finished the fifth one last year, before Night Shade pulled the plug. Also in the works is a collection of the Imaro short stories that did not get absorbed into the books. This collection will include three brand-new Imaro stories. I?m working on those new stories now.
It is because of readers like you that I?ve decided to continue. Hopefully, print-on-demand will be a better vehicle for getting my work out to people who want to read it.
Thanks again for your comments. I hope the upcoming Imaro novels and stories live up to your expectations.
All the best,
Charles
