So, I wrote up a post praising Imaro, and got a response from Saunders himself! Still happy, am I.
Heh i didnt know you were that big of fan and i agree completely in S&S i think he is second only to REH. I like you review it captured my admiration, respect for Imaro, his creator better than i could in words like that.
When i first read Imaro book 1 a couple of years ago i commented in CRS site telling him how awesome the book was and how important it was for me to finally have an African hero who was a great hero to adore reading.
It was something him thanking me for my words, actually talking to him like that.

Awesome cover. Thanks for reminding me of this book threadstarter, I'll put an order in myself!!!
I read that one last summer and enjoyed it tremendously. Currently I am in the middle of reading a biography of Shaka Zulu and there are some tremendous similarities. I am wondering if Saunders patterned Imaro on Shaka, similar to how REH patterned Conan on figures from old sagas, gunfighters and sich.

Can someone tell me how to link specific blog posts from CRS' website?

On the Blog list, right click on the title of the blog entry you want and "Copy Link Address". That will give you the real link to the actual page & you can paste it.

I just read Imaro and loved it as well. I can't wait to pick up Damballa.
You reminded me of Damballa, i have been focusing too much on Imaro and Dossouye. You must try Dossyoue, a great female warrior based on real world 1700s,1800s army of women soldiers.
CRS is a gem for fans of S&S. He is easily my modern fav S&S, i adore him for taking REH style S&S to totally different continent, mythology, cultures.

I've written about them myself in a roundabout way. The wife of the protangonist of my novella Dubaku is a Dahomey Amazon.

I cannot find this info anywhere on the net, not even on Dale Rippke's old site.

Can anyone look at the Acknowledgements of the first Imaro novel in 1981 (DAW books) and see where and when the short story "Slaves of the Giant Kings" was first published?

Sorry, Elegos (good to see ya back!), but my copy was ruined in the Flood. In some ways, my "Old World" was destroyed in 2012.
Still, best of luck.

In the 1981 DAW copy I have, it states that portions of the book had appeared in various publications, but does not say what portions in what publications. Sorry, no help from this end.

Thanks for the look-see, TDM.
Elegos, I would just join the CRS forum on his website and ask the man. He's quite gracious.
