I'm with El Borak on this one. Since Conan isn't described as having a beard, I always just assume he doesn't. If REH wanted his barbarian to have a full beard, he probably would have mentioned it somewhere.
True to that, Officer . . .
But Howard was fascinated by history, and Conan's people are pre-Celtic; and the Celts had long beards/moustaches. Like I've said before, it depends on the reader, because in many stories, such as Iron Shadows in the Moon, where Conan has been hiding for many days or weeks, he's probably got some sort of facial hair. Or in the Black Stranger, running away from Picts for a very long time, it only makes sense--especially then--for him to have a beard; it's realistic.
Oh, I too agree that he'd likely have a bit of facial hair in certain scenarios (it's only realisitic), but never a full-grown beard.
This topic reminds me of a similar topic I read on a different board awhile ago - How Does Superman Shave? I always find it a little bit humorous when fans (including myself) discuss such details.
Well in Superman: The Animated Series he shoots his heat vision at the mirror and it reflect back at him and mor eor less burns the hair off. You know after reading something about how would Superman cut his hair I've been wanting to use that bit of info, I just didn't figure it would be on a Conan subject. But anyway I think Conan would more than like have some sort of stubble. I just can't see Conan taking time out every day or two just to shave. I also think at somepoint he would have worn a full beard and probaly most every style of beard there was in his time if you want to look at it realisticly.
