Does anyone know if Red Nails or 300 will be released in theaters (limited) and then straight to DVD?
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, cone a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly."   Robert Heinlein

Hello Savate.

300 will be a theatrical release for sure. The rumors for Red Nails are that they are contemplating a theatrical release but more than likely it will be a direct to DVD release.

Looks like Red Nails is not going to happen Jor-el. Apparently the studio ran into some money problems that has put the project on indefinite hold. CPI did confirm at Howard Days that they are pursing other animated projects for the Conan franchise but don't expect to see Red Nails anytime soon, unfortunately.

Makes me wonder if the voice-acting had already finished recording. It'd be sad if there was already that much work put into the project and it never reaches an audience.

"Unfortunatly", is an understatement anyway you look at it . I was hoping "Nails" would more or less hold me until the real deal was released! I understand Arnie may try to keep his job. which means WHAT? for the next film, "Crown of Iron"?

King Clonan: Clown of Iron. :P

Your jumping the gun - CPI has already announced a writer and possible director for the new live action Conan movie, a mister Mr. Yakin. There isn't going to be a Arnold movie. Yes, Red Nails not happenning right now is disappointing but as you examine projects in the film and TV industry this stuff happens.

Is it right, as some folks have suggested, that they completed the dialogue recording with Ron Perlman et al.? Maybe Swordplay can do a deal with Big Finish to wrap this up as the first Conan Audio Adventure...

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Ant

Maybe if a live action movie finally happen they will buy the unfinished Red Nail to bring in on DVD as a tie-in like they did for Matrix, Riddick and Val Helsing. Such an unfinished project could become interesting again for big studio to complete, thus having a DVD tie-in for their promo while saving on the whole pre-production.

In the case of the Matrix the animatrix was actually better than the two live-action sequel, if not the original movie...

If you go to the Red Nails site you will see there seems to be some hope that it will happen after all...

Is this writer Bin Yakin from the famed Jewels of Gwahlur? Now that would be something!

Yeah, things started looking bad with this project a few months ago. Ah well.
