We certainly have different opinions about Odoacer. No problem with that. We are also talking about two different things. You are talking about "character", and I was more concerned about a "career". Gaiseric is a huge historical character and a very Howardian barbarian king IMO, but he was at the head of his people and invaded Roman territory. He is closer to Gorm the pict.
I think Odoacer motivations were closer to Conan's than Gaiseric. But between Odoacer and Conan there are remarkable differences. He is far from being the perfect candidate.
