bathing in verse
I washed and cursed
while singing
I lurched...

Hey, thanks for letting us 'bathe' in more examples of your verse.

glad you are so prolific, and varied.
... more please ? :)

two alien killers
finally escaped
the prison planet
yes, they ran away
far, far away
but where to run to?
at last, with fuel
desperately low
they hovered over
a planet once devastated
by horrific nuclear war
its cities destroyed
now crumbling ruins
soon, even these remnants
would also past
a handful of inhabitants
survived
miserable and dull
scratching out a stone age
existence
as nature reclaims all
"It must have been magnificent
once," he said
"hundreds of years ago"
"True," the other replied
"Regardless, we must now
make it our home"
they landed and embarked
determined to do more
than just continue
"Together, we shall begin
to build a new world,"
he said
"Yes," she agreed
"a new civilization
and a new God to rule it"
they walked forth
hand in hand
"Whatever happens
on this strange remote planet;
I love you," Adam declared
Eve smiled at her man
"And I love you"

~~~ Blood trail... ~~~
I had managed to effect my slick escape
before the usual Prison-Guards gang rape
Ran and crawled for miles and miles
past serpent stares and black cat smiles
Squatting on a bed of reed
ejecting my alien seed
on my monthly cursed bleed
now aligators come to feed?
Crashing behind me came a 'Hound from hell'
eyes on fire, fangs dripping sulphor smell
I dived into the warm blue-green lake water
my Dad was proud of his fast-swimming Daughter.
Soon, huge pain in my leg made me yell and cough
Aligator twisted me round, till it ripped right off
Crawled up steep pebble dam slope
a helicopter sound gave me false hope.
My clothes were ripped to bits of shred
breasts were scraped, nipples bled
A big salmon jumped up past my ear
then tumbled back down: it showed no fear
Then a leering Park Ranger with eyes like glass
thrust a gun to my lips, and jumped on my ass.
I wildly scratched his sweaty bearded face
...then his head came off in crimson grace...
I had been 'saved' by a huge Grizzly Bear:
it bit out his tongue, then grabbed my hair
dragged me moaning to it's lair
three cuddly playfull cubs were there
My end was the bear's nutrition gain
glad something put me out of my long pain...
...I had killed all those Politicians in that big hall.
My bomb even caused the President's fall...
do you write any prose....this one make a great little bizarre story....seriously
its really crazy and off beat...you could easily whip it into a 1200 to 1500 concise
little fast paced tale ...go for it BX
Thankyou very much for your enthusiastic comments and support.
great feedback like this always encourages me to write more poems. :)
I find it interesting so see how much vivid weirdness, thrills, and horror can be conveyed in just a few rhyming lines.
but making it entertaining and thought provoking is the hardest part.
unfortunatly, i do not have time to write prose [ that takes too long ] [ although i enjoy writing, when i have time, and i have written several very short Hyborian fan-tales in the past ].
i always hope to write lots of prose when i am much older and retired, and have time to kill?
... i wonder how many readers enjoy our many FREE poems here... but won't take a tiny bit of time to reply and thank us ?
THE DARKEST HUNT
Witch Hunter
Edgefinn Proxmery
watched in the rain
the cold hard rain
for hours
black hair
streaked with gray
he was older
than most
of his kind
and much more patient
he drank as he
watched
and watched
as he drank
it wasn't allowed
but he was the law
people came
and left
the remote country
inn
some left staggering
but none left
laughing
it wasn't that
kind of place
nay, it be
Chaos laced
the stench was strong
here, the decay
belonged
two days before
he'd watched sweaty men
shovel dirt and rock
from the grave
the girl had been young
but now lay cold
shrouded and stiff
the corpse covered
with ghastly sign
then Proxmery
rode on
black stallion
black leather
dark heart
black storm
yet pious
still muttering
absolutions
and strong
very strong
after waiting for hours
he dismounted and
drifted near
black instrument
case in hand
he took the contents
and left it
by the door
inside the stench
must be incredible
but over the course
of decades
he had grown
to enjoy
it meant the time
was at hand
hobnailed boot lashed out,
splintering, crushing open
the short blunderbuss
barked
with deafening roar
and destroyed two
maimed another
but the rest came
axes and swords
arbalests and daggers
scaled arms reaching
with clawed hands
and fangs dripping black
saliva
not an innocent in the
house
good
not that it mattered
he bashed out one's
putrid brains
the blunderbuss
becoming a bludgeon
then cast aside
two pistols he drew
one daemon shot
through the left eye
another through the
right
an expert with the throwing
knife
he took out one
then two
then three
before a bolt hit him
square
knocked him back a ways
and down
but heavy mail vest
saved and
like lightening striking
he was back on his feet
kicking, swearing oaths
he was a strong man
strong and hard
twisted and corded
now with sword and short
scythe
in hand
he harvested Chaos
and it was bountiful
and good
cut, bloodied,
and bruised
he stumbled out
vomiting
one arm limp
and dripping
then mounted
and rode away
disappearing into
that awful, stormy night
but even Sigmar's
cold hard rain
the thunder
nor the pain
could dampen
what lay behind;
that blazing,
hellish inferno's
fierce heat
and blinding,
blistering
light
hey, how bout some action and gore for a change of pace?!
Im not familiar with them..why do you ask?
They have a song titled "Escape From the Prison Planet"
Then.
Against my better judgment I went walking out that door.
I smiled at one person then I nodded to three more.
One man asked me for a dollar, I asked him, "What's it for?"
He said, "I have seen them." I said, "O.K., it's yours."
And as featured on the MTV, the local high school lets out,
And the town becomes anarchy.
Parties are crashed, skid marks are measured.
The story's in the paper, you may read it at your leisure.
Get out.Eject.Escape From the Prison Planet.Get out.Eject.
Escape From the Prison Planet.
And to the tune of a billion dollars,
I supplied to the D.O.E.
Some tasty little nuggets of alien technology.
And as one might expect, I've been harassed for years.
The Men In Black have been bending my ears.
As a matter of fact, they were just here today,
But I escaped them through a secret passageway.
Once I lived there for one thousand days.
Get out.Eject.Escape From the Prison Planet.Get out.Eject.
Escape From the Prison Planet.
I have plans for the future, guess they're futuristic plans.
Move out west and buy some desert lands.
Maybe up North, just past Alaska.
You know nothing of this if they ask ya.
Red Rover, Red Rover, Bob Lazar's coming over.
So honey clear the airstrip and light up that stove.By Jove,
I think it's started. Oh yeah,
Escape From the Prison Planet.
Billion people harvest on Mars.
Rebuild the remnants of the obelisk,One mile from the pyramid.
Escape From the Planet of the Apes.
Go forth, ad infinitum.Return the relics to the Elephant.
And Atlantis rises.
Get out.Eject.Escape From the Prison Planet.Ejector seat ignite.
" You have a good point there,...put your helmet on & no-one will notice it ."
thats some good lyrics there...I think I have heard of Clutch but Im not
sure from where? However, the idea for my Adam and Eve poem actually
was given to me by a poster on another board. I asked him if I could
develop it into a story and he said sure because he wasn't a writer
...so far though, its only a poem
its so cold
so cold
in space
so very far
away
from everything
warm, organic
and natural?
maybe going
where no one
has gone before
is all about
?
wrapped inside
a metal coffin
buried alive
in nothingness
no flowers
growing
over the tomb
just space dust
unless you
pass to close
to a sun
and get burned
like a mosquito
flying into
a bonfire
snap, crackle,
pop
and your soul
is released
and another
journey begins
but despite
the void
of a million
miles
I think
(therefore I am)
that it somehow
makes its way
back
to earth
I don't worry...I have to much on my mind
TWILIGHT SCHOOL ZONE
A simple man
Being lame
Called names
Degraded and ashamed
Everyday a different way
Forlorn he stayed
Goodness fading away
Hatred
Increasing
Jungle-like he roamed
Kindred to the beast
Leering, wild
Malevolent his eyes
Neighbors despised
Own blood letting required
Painfully it grew
Quickly it spawned
Reason twisted, askew
Stalking with much hunger
Taking, ripping asunder
Unholy, flesh craving
Venomous heart, darkly festered
While gnawing human bones
Xavian its name
Yesterday learned he was sane
Zen lords forsaking, set him aflame
I don't worry...I have to much on my mind
THE RETURN OF DARK AGNES
I hate the rain
its so cold
like hell turned backwards
and the winds moan
pitifully sad
but
why should the elements care
about how I ache
and labor?
with shovel in hand
to scratch out
another fresh grave
God must be laughing
and I must
earn my daily bread
digging
in the rain
making a pit
to put away
the cold dead
remains
of a beautiful young,
once vibrant girl
strangled by a fiend
who escaped
and is without worry
so it goes...
but what is this
a metal box?
the grave is
occupied!
de Chastillon 1535
an old and wealthy tomb
and I but a poor man
some were buried with
gold, precious stones
valuable trinkets indeed
jewels worth thousands now!
no harm in taking
a little peek
My God!
she looks to be merely sleeping
her cheeks so pink and smooth
long red hair
such lovely lips and lashes
I am overcome
I stumble out
desperate for a drink
and wiping the rain
from my startled eyes
No!
I must close the lid
replace the soil
or lose my daily bread
But what?!
she is...missing!
I am insane
then a noise
I turn
and...and...
it is she!
reaching out for me
an astounding vision
of beauty
and so alive
no! more than alive
my lids grow heavy
my mind seems
enshrouded by heavy
mists
I put out my hand
she draws very near
perfect cheeks
glistening with raindrops
a soaked bodice
firm breasts straining
outward
she speaks!
"Thank you M'sieu,
I am freed at last, but now...?"
she closes as if to kiss me
but I feel tremendous power
and a shove
then I fall backwards
flailing hopelessly down
and down
before striking my head
on something hard
like iron
consciousness returns
I am wet
but no longer feel the rain
or even hear it
only the sound
of frozen dirt and rocks
striking something metallic
there just above me
and nothing to see
save complete darkness
I don't worry...I have to much on my mind
Sermon Bath, you bring fresh horror to what had been a tired old cliche.
"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard
Read my Conan screenplays at The Scrolls of Ironhand (in particular my transcription of THE FROST GIANT'S DAUGHTER in Act II of "The Snow Devil") at
http://www.scrollsof...d.us/index.html or at
http://www.delicious...ic=ConanProject
