I posted this over on the DH board . I was wondering if anyone knows if there's any of the strips on the web at all.

Cheers

Terry

"Any chance of DH looking at the possibility of reprinting the Des Moines Register and Tribune Conan strip that ran between 1978-81 ?

I know samples were reprinted in the UK SSOC magazine , though I don't know of the strip ever appearing over here , plus Marvel Treasury Edition 23 reprinted a story.

I beliive I read that Roy said all the strips were collected in a Spanish Edition so I imagine the art , if not the words , are available _somewhere_

Be great to see these as I expect that the majority of readers would not have seen them so it could be a good seller. "

Hello

Some time ago I found in web following notice:

"Conan the Newspaper Comic - in 1978 Marvel Comics and Conan Properties, Inc. combined this produce and daily and Sunday newspaper strip. Seen in over 100 newspapers with script Roy Thomas and art would to John Buscema and Ernie Chan. It lasted at least through 1980?.

I?m looking for additional information concerning of this theme now. Maybe someone has for example the list of episodes or knows titles the newspapers, in which the adventures of Conan were printed? Maybe someone knows also others websites where I can find more details about this?

I?ll be grateful for every information and answer

Look over at www.conan.no and go to Hyborian Thoughts. You'll find a similar thread where a couple of people have listed some of the episodes.
"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

I'm sorry, my mistake. The thread with the lists of comic strip eps is here on this site, but I'm not sure where. Sorry. :(

There are some sample strips over at
http://digitalamazon.com/conan/

The strip ran for about 3 years , there doesn't seem to be much info. anywhere on the web about it .

We've also been discussing it over on my Yahoo group , link below if your interested in joining.

Hi there, got to read the topic lately, just wanna tell you that the whole daily collection is available in spanish, you'll have some chance to find some on www.es.ebay.com, the collection consists in 12 volumes, and is unique cause it wasn't translated nor printed anywhere else. Most yarns being hard to find, it is worth looking at...

Hi everybody!

I'm new here but I am an old Conan Fan. I started reading the BWS series and I think I read all the Marvel color and BW run.

My big regret is that I could never read the dailies and the sunday pages published in the newspapers. Does anybody know if there's a source for this material?

Thanks for your help!

Lucius,

If you are referring to the syndicated strip done by Roy Thomas and John Buscema then you need to get your hands on some issues of Conan Saga.

They reprinted the strip starting in issue #32. The following is the order of appearance by issue number:

#32
#35
#38
#42
#43

Now, it goes on in further issues, but I myself am still collecting them and I don't know the order of appearance after issue #43. I think it stops around issue #50.

Thank you Jimbo!

Does the run in Conan Saga include the sunday pages or it's just the dailies?
And do you know by any chance if there's an episode guide of the syndicated Conan? I know that the daily strip was also drawn by Ernie Chan and other artists, but I don't know for how long it was published.

The Sagas don't indicate if they are from the dailies or Sunday editions. It is all one story that continues. I don't remember there being a Sunday edition in my news paper back when the series ran, but then again I was not a Conan fan at that time.

I don't know if there is an episode guide but Ernie Chan is mentioned in the reprints in the Sagas.

The series started in the late 1970s but I don't know how long it ran for. If I remember right, it was not for very long. One or both of us should check with the resources Terry mentioned.

From what little I know of it, Buscema started drawing it then it got passed on to Ernie Chan. Im not sure who took it over after that. If you keep an eye on ebay, the Ernie Chan originals seem to pop up there now and then.

I remember it because amazingly our local newspaper actually ran it for a while. It only ran a couple of years, and it was during the height of fantasy popularity that Star Wars had brought to TV and movies. There was a Spiderman strip, and a Justice League daily strip too, in addition to Star Wars and Conan.
