In that case I think I will create a free to play account and join the American servers to see the crack on there too. :)

But the Croms servers in Europe seem pretty decent player wise for a 4 year old game.

My machine is a bit underpowered so things don't look as good as they should. But I ran through the Forgotten City last week and it is GORGEOUS. Really nice graphics. The highlight of the Khitai expansion for me.

Never could find anybody to go through The Breach, so I haven't explored that. Or any of the 80th level stuff.

Yeah it is a resource hugging monster AoC, but if you have the tech power you can see the game in full DX11 high resolution witht the wind blowing across the grass and trees and the dropping shadows under the bushes and trees and walls. Truelly impressive game for its age.

Once you get to 80 you can find groups to do the Ktai runs, if not get into a guild to get more runs. It seems that since they paid of the gamers in house, they bought accounts and formed guilds and do the runs in there so keeping the new ones from forming teams and getting runs. The last part was my take on things and is just hearsay around my buds! :)

So, tiring of poor melee and sneaking around (though the class was fun for quite awhile), I shelved my ranger and played a Conquerer. Things are going much more smoothly.

However: any suggestions on how to kill Mithrelle in the Ice Cave for the solo/legacy quest? I've got a 52nd level Conquerer and Mithrelle is taking massive amounts of damage. Even trying to run up to the ledge for a little bit to recover, then attack again, I haven't stayed alive past knocking her down to about 35%.

Thanks,

Mellee is tedious but u'll find that all classes have niggly points tbh.

I tend to just play between 3 classes, tank, dps and heals so I get a fair knowledge of different classes and more challenges etc.

Mithrelle can be defeated, but you need to check the forums or check utube for some pointers on how to do it. Wait till you get to freeing a God at 80....OMG njightmare!!! :P

Hadn't thought of youtube. Thanks. AoC forums are blocked at work.

Ranger is fine except I like to solo and that's tough. I have a 12th level POM I only play when a friend gets to rarely log on. It is a fun class so far.

They released AoC for download in STEAM online, which seems to have added alot of newbies playing the lower level dungeons also in Europe anyways. It will be interesting to see when steam release their lynux box will AoC work on it.  :)

The beauty with which Funcom crafted REH's world continues to stun me even after having played this game off and on for several years now . . . I'm playing through all the content in Stygia now and some of the vistas are everything I imagined when picturing this part of Hyboria . . . here's a few of my favorites:

Stunning images.... and shows I REALLY need to upgrade my video card!

I have never gone completely through all the Stygia content, but the parts I have seen are impressive.

Thanks for sharing!

I'll add some more as I continue my adventures . . . with the game being free to play and now available on steam, there is no better time to either come back or to jump in for the first time. Plus, a complete overhaul of the trade skill system will be deployed this year (sooner rather than later I believe) which will add considerably to the depth of the game.

If anyone would like to team up in game, just let me know . . . all of my characters are currently on the Set server but I'm willing to start new characters on other servers in order to play with other REH fans.

My main character is Traemnor (barbarian, pretty much at T3.5/T4 level), and I have a level 80 Bear Shaman Gwynyfhyr. I have some low level characters too, but the only one I have been working on is Raedsonja a level 40 Dark Templar. Feel free to add me to your friends list. All are on Set, so if you see me on don't hesitate to see about grouping.

I am interested in getting this game, but first need to get a new computer as my old one died recently. How advanced of a computer do I need to be able to play AoC? I've heard that the graphics are pretty impressive, requiring a pretty advanced graphics card. I'd prefer a laptop computer and am just wondering how much $ I'll have to drop on a computer able to run the game smoothly.

This site will tell you if  your computer can run the game, I used it to upgrade from my old computer so i could finally play a year and a half ago :)

You can adjust video settings, but you will need a pretty good video card to run it well.

U can play it on a laptop, but your not gonna get anywhere near as good playing it on a DX10 PC with a good graphics card as I do tbh.  U'll miss out some nice scenery in high Def especially the flowing grass and the leaves in the wind.  IT blew my mind the 1st time I saw it, especially as it is a MMO!  :)

The music still hunts me too, really good and atmospheric.
