Wow! Thanks for showing us your Howard's rees123!

Have you read One Who Walked Alone by Novalyn Price Ellis and Blood & Thunder, The Life & Art of REH by Mark Finn?

Do you have any of the REH Foundation Books like The Last of the Trunk, Collected Letters 1-3 of REH, etc.?

I hope others will show us your howards!

Here's the continuation of my previous post.

The Dark Barbarian

I wasn't going to buy one of these to add to my Gnomes but the price was too good to pass up even if the DJ is a little tatty.

Picked up a 2nd Edition Vultures but I haven't got around to buying a 1st yet

And also a Grant Pride of Bear Creek

Not Howard related but I'm very pleased with these two:

Poul Anderson's A Broken Sword 1st Edition in very good condition,

and a 1st U.K. edition of Eddison's Styrbiorn the Strong (I'll be picking up a facsimile DJ for this one).

Very nice! I love seeing other early fantasy and SF collectibles than REH. The Anderson and Eddison firsts are very cool.

Weird Tales, Dec 1936, pristine condition: REH's "Fire of Asshurbanipal", HPL's "The Haunter in the Dark", Robert Bloch, Virgil Finlay, St John cover!

Plus (and even mega-plus): this was HPL's own's contributor copy. A lovely addition to the collection, to be sure!

Not REH, of course, but an obvious acolyte.

Clark Ashton Smith, The Double Shadow, 1933, in almost "as new" condition, and signed by the master.

Wow, what a brace of acquisitions! Would you be willing to share their histories and how you came to own them?

“Do you try to write like the guys who write for the magazines you write for?” Clyde asked. “Hell, no,” Bob was emphatic about that. “I let them try to write like me.” - From One Who Walked Alone by Novalyne Price Ellis

“They would say it is a lie, if they dared. That's the way with civilized men. When they can't explain something by their half-baked science, they refuse to believe it." – Conan of Cimmeria, Beyond the Black River.

“I'm learning all I can about the technique. There's where the true pleasure comes in, in any profession, learning the basic rules, the conventions, the technique... Some people are interested only in the finshed article. Not me. When I am interested in anything I want to see it in its crudest state and watch it evolve.”

"I want to know where I came from and why and what relation I hold to the rest of the universe."

I talked their former owner into lowering his prices way below what he wanted to sell them for!

But there was THAT one, that oh-so-elusive one that Jeff never ceased to taunt me with. The nightmares, the nightmares...

FantasyFan-1934-03.jpg

Fantasy Fan, March 1934, first appearance of "Gods of the North / The Frost King's Daughter", the rewrite of the unsold Conan "The Frost Giant's Daughter", in a supposedly 60-copy print run fanzine. Whew!
