Thanks Strom! Very cool. I can't wait for this stuff, since (unlike CtB) I've never had a chance to read a lot of the early issues. :)

The preorders for Volume 1 must've been very good to solicit this one so soon, which would be great news. This volume should have issues #11-25, depending if the reprint the B & W version of CTB #17 & 18 from SSOC #13 is included (I wouldn't mind it being dropped). In any case, we get a lot of Buscema and the one Neal Adams, good stuff. Though I wonder if they'll try to clean up that one poorly inked issue of POTBC.

It's good to see that Dark Horse looks to have jumped in with both feet on reprinting the SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN magazines.

So, who's eager for this?

Anyone "on the fence"?

Would interior pages previews help anyone? :)

I can't wait. SSOC has always been the best series in IMO. Those gloomy black and white drawings seem more powerful then the color ones.
Maybe its because the first Conan comics I saw were SSOC?

Ditto, and I miss your covers Jusko. The only reason I kept buying SSOC after Roy Thomas left.

Alcala's inks, too. He went through some ink!

God, I miss John Buscema.

You aren't alone.

I haven't seen anyone come along since that matches John Buscema's consumate craftmanship combined with prolifc professionalism.

I, too, also miss Alfredo Alcala greatly, another consumate & prolifc pro still unmatched to date.

I really hope their great work is appreciated anew in the upcoming SSOC omnibuses.

The original art for that exact page was up for auction with several others on Ebay a few months back !
I liked Alcalas inking work when he finished a good pencillers work ( like Buscema) but I didn't really care much for his own art . Here's a Conan piece in 'homage' to ( or blatantly ripping-off if you prefer....)Esteban Maroto's excellent 'Dax the Damned' work from Eerie magazine . With his rainbow-brite style coloring it's good he didn't color any Conans after inking them !

Buscema was the best Conan artist... no one has even come close to him so far.

Didn't Marvel do a 3 issue series limited of Conan where Buscema did the pencils AND the inks? I seem to recall that being one hell of an awesome art job. Certainly the best he ever did in colour! I also like his under-sung work on the Avengers in the late 80s, inked by Palmer.

Anybody remember some Wizard covers by Jusko? There was an X-Men one I think which was awesome.
