Hello all! I just found a trove of Amra fanzines up for bid on e-bay. Can't wait to see what they're like. I've been hearing about that old fanzine for years, and soon I'll actually own some of them. Hoo-ah! :D
If Woody had gone straight to the Snowhawk Clan, this would never have happened.

Congrats!!

I had a few many years ago. I do have one of the two volumes put out that were a "Best Of" thing. I hope to make a buy like yours one day soon.

Also known as Easter Nuts.
These veined/wrinkled pods are an average of 1 1/2 inces long.
Particularly good in fruit/nut mixes.

HAHAHAHAHA - UUGH, AMRA's NUTS NOW SMELL GOOD ,BUT LITTLE SMALL !!

" You have a good point there,...put your helmet on & no-one will notice it ."
" Look for a long time at what pleases you... and longer still at what pains you "
So THIS is civilization ??!??!......

Back in the day I bought two collections of articles from Amra.
Just checked and I still have them.
The Spell of Conan, and, The Blade of Conan.
Some good articles in them, along with a couple of short stories.
"I vanquished Law once, I'll conquer yet again--
And force upon Mankind the Freedom he fears--
And dead gods I will again defy?"

I just reread mine. For serious fans of REH/S&S, they're definitely worth tracking down. B) I wish there was an online archive. :(

I just received a letter informing me of an estate sale for George Scithers on ebay... I didn't even know he had passed away! I suppose there is a thread on this somewhere, but I couldn't find it, so...

This is truly sad news for me. George Scithers had been so good to me when I was firing off stories to Weird Tales in the 1990's. A number of times he sent me personal letters with suggestions to help me. I remember the last so well.... Another giant is gone.

He wrote the Conan Swordbook and the Conan Grimoire with LSdC. He also edited the fanzine Amra.

Did anyone else find the painting of a nude Conan with sword to be gratuitous?

Indeed, but since some people think that Conan is an 'homoerotic icon'... <_<

Yes. However, without Scithers, I wouldn't have read The Blade of Conan and The Spell of Conan.
