Nice, nice work, Atula! It has that classic John Buscema feel to it.

Yeah, a definite Buscema feel there - good stuff! The axe made me think of an artist who did some pinup pages for SSOC - Flint Henry (at least I think that was his name), and I always liked his stuff too.

I really like all the little things in a lot of the pieces. You can see the effort to place the characters in a piece of time and you can see the "story" in the pictures. Conan carries a likeness from drawing to drawing but you mix it up, a lot of guys get stuck on one image of him which I think is a mistake. These drawings are really good. You have hit the next level and I see you getting better all the time.

Hey Primeval! Yeah, I've always been a big Flint Henry fan. I wish they'd round 'im up and let him do some REH stuff. He's got a very brutal, visceral style. I haven't seen him do anything since Law Dog.

Nice work, Atula. B) Whoever he's growling at is seriously screwed.

Aragones is going to create a Conan Vs Groo Mini-series.
(Details at the bottom)
I was fascinated with the idea..
I wanted to see how does it look..
I played with the characters.. I enjoyed drawing Groo with Conan… especially after the highly detailed pinups of REH characters for Ken.
How does it look and what can be done to improve. Please comment..

The miniseries is a reality according to Aragones who spoke about it
at several conventions earlier this year.
At Wondercon he said:
A Groo/Conan crossover has been in the works and all involved have
been supportive and enthusiastic. Editor Bill Stout was hospitalized
for a while (he's fine now), and a new editor has come onboard,
bringing the project back to square one.
At San Diego Comic-Con he said:
We've plotted and figured out the Groo/Conan story, and the Conan
people okayed it, so now we need to create it.

Discussing the Groo/Conan book, Aragonés said, "Groo is my hero, I
don't want him to lose; the Conan people don't want him to lose, so
who is going to win if they fight? Then I remembered 'Rashoman', so
now we can do it," suggesting that the Groo-Conan confrontation would
be seen from both points of view and with differing opinions as to who
emerged victorious.

While working on the Groo/Conan project, Dark Horse began lobbying for
another book, this one to feature a meeting with another licensed
property they currently publish: Tarzan. Aragonés says he's not sure
how to make the story work, but that they will think of something.

"Tarzan is one of my favorite characters, but it's not an easy
crossover like Conan. Conan makes sense; they're both barbarians, but
Tarzan, I don't know how it fits.

Very nice work, Atula. I like your Conan! However, don't you think that Conan should be depicted in the same cartoony style that Groo is? I was wondering how something like this would be handled, and I figured it would make more sense that way.

Well-done pin-up, Atula! Maybe you can do the next series. ;)

Thanks... all of you..
I hope to play with these more..
One suggested trying both in both styles.. Some hate the idea...
I wonder How does Argones handle it..

IMHO, Conan should never be depicted in a Groo-ish cartoony style. Rather, Groo should be depicted in a "realisticized" style, much like a Popeye/Superman crossover I read many years ago.

Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

Aragones is going to create a Conan Vs Groo Miniseries.
This is my second pinup… may be better than the first one in some aspects.
It is easier now because Groo is really attacking… Conan is annoyed … but unarmed yet .. ..
As a Conan fan I don’t want him to draw his sword against Groo. (I have imagined the next frame already… Conan’s response )
Since this is an experimental one I would like you to comment…
If you saw the earlier one you will realize…The comments I received for the last time helped a lot in these..
Thanks everyone who viewed and commented…

Hey guys! This is awesome! Just my two cents, but since Aragones is doing this, I would think that it will be in the "Groo" style. Hopefully Conan will be portrayed with at least some realism though. Groo has always made me laugh and I have always thought him to be kind of a "bizarro" Conan type. I need to dig out my old issues of Groo to see how they read for me these days. I haven't read any in probably ten years. Anyway, lead me to the FRAY!!!

These pinups are absolutely wonderful! Keep 'em coming Atula.

As for my take on the matter, why all the hostility? Why can't Conan and Groo be swapping swashbuckling tales of derring-do while tossing back a few mugs? :P

Great Pinup! If Argones does it Groo style, then I like yours much better.

For whomever is interested. What The?! #12 had 'Goo' vs Conan.

These are great. What would also be cool would be Conan versus a symbiote (but not Venom) as Marvel planned this just before they lost the rights to Conan.

These pinups are so great I just can't be a stick-in-the-mud spoilsport. Go for it, Atula.

I like this pin up a lot better (the other one was very good though). The Groo is very true to the character and very cool. I think you should keep the contrast. It works with Conan being drawn in the same vein you normally bring and Groo being more attuned to what Sergio does.

You really are hitting home runs with these pin ups. Really cool stuff to see.
