That is really sick! I think I'm going to toss my spinach!
"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

I found "Calls for Cthulhu" rather cute.

And here's one I whipped up myself...

ARE YOU READY KIDS?

Aye-aye, captain!

I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

AYE-AYE, CAPTAIN!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH...

Man, I thought I'd seen all the darkest, most twisted Cthulhu Mythos illustrations, but this... this...

... and a couple more showing Van Der Haegens sense of humor in a painting tribute to Wyeth ( - notice the dead seagulls on the beach  )......
Posted Image
.....and here's Wyeths original .......
Posted Image

--------> VanDerHaegens site <--------

He has a really cool painting tribute to Frazetta with a parody of his 'Barbarian' painting titled 'Conaness' on his website , but I can't post it here , it's n.s.f.w. ( she's topless ! with Conan wrapped around her leg haha ) - he has an even better version in the march issue of ImagineFX in the 80th birthday tribute to Frazetta - it's like 16 bucks an issue here in the states , but there's an 80 artist tribute to Frazetta that is def. worth the price !

Cool pic, Buxie! Y'know, there just isn't enough "Lovecraftian good-girl art" these days. :P

Cthulhu gets all the hot chicks...
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream. - Edgar Allen Poe

It's the olden lure, it's the golden lure, it's the lure of the timeless things. - Robert Service

For the myth is the foundation of life; it is the timeless schema, the pious formula into which life flows when it reproduces its traits out of the unconscious. - Thomas Mann

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. - Norman Maclean

Great site Kane , some hilarious stuff on there ! Got some good belly laughs out of the "Open Letters to People/Entities that aren't Likely to Respond" & the A.P.B. for bongiovi
"CONCERNING
JON BON JOVI,
WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE."

& Axl Roses 'editor' fixing his stupid songs....

:D

wow , reality check slap in the face ! I was getting a kick out of the humorous stuff on that site , & stumbled across the "What is the What ?" book info. You never know when you might stumble across a diamond in the dusty path .

I didn't know what to make of it for a second or two , if it was some semi-serious or semi-humorous dig at a writers book or what . Have to admit not having heard of Eggers or Deng before now . It's a very significant way to get shaken up too , I can really appreciate it ! From laughing to a brisk slap in the face call to wake the F%$# up ! While we have the luxury of spending a few idle hours here & there on our computers finding laughs & things to make us feel better in our supposed 'daily misery' , there's a lot of folks on the other side of the world right now , at this second , and for a lot of years before now who are dieing , simply for being born where they were . Because of religion , because of politics , because of the same B.S. since the beginning of time . It's only a minor gesture , almost vulgar it seems , to say I'm going to get that book since I now know the proceeds will go to help some of those folks . Suddenly , today I feel like a prime example American a$$hole ! My pissant problems are insignificant , and I owe the world and God and man a lot . - I needed that ! Seriously Kane , from this rock-banging moon-howling barbarian - thanks for linking that website ! I'd recommend everyone who ever occasionally takes the time to feed their soul to check out the info on that book .
