"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

The Heavy Metal figs are very cool. What scale are they? They are like a stylized version of Conan but that appeals to me.I'll get pictures of the Bronze Age miniature posted when I have him finished; I think most of David's sculpts look even better painted.

They are about 50mm; larger than I work with usually but I had to get them.

Does anyone remember a Julie Guthrie Personality from about 20 years ago that was Arnold with the film sword in mail? Unfortunately I lost the figure while living in Alaska aboard my sloop, but that was always my favourite Conan figure. (Not that Arnold is my idea of Conan, mind you. But I did, do and always will LOVE the Atlantean sword....sigh)
I went through an old Grenadier catalog and I couldn't find anything that fits that description - the only old miniature I can think of that fits is an old Ral Partha miniature called "The Cimmerian" that had the movie sword but not mail. I'll keep my eyes open though!
Well, I couldn't find this guy in the catalogs I looked at, but he is being produced by the current owner of the old Julie Guthrie Fantasy Personalities - is this the miniature you are talking about?

Great paint work on this mini, Primeval! You've highlighted her nipples perfectly tooThread seems a bit slow, so here is a female Stygian warrior I just finished:

David at Bronze Age Miniatures has just released a new barbarian that would make a great Conan:
Finished this guy, without the shield:

Looks like an Irish kern, or a dark age Pict.
Yep, REH based the cimmerians around Dark Age Irish/Scots culture, so I wanted the figure to mirror that. I actually used the body of a Numidian, with the head and arms of an ancient German figure and then used sculpting putty to do the hair and the cloak.
