I've obtained an English translation of a Spanish language article from 1989 on the Mexican Conan comic La reina da la Costa Negra. The title of the article is THE ORIGINS OF CONAN THE FIRST COMIC by Manuel Barrero and is from 1989. I'm trying to find out where it was originally published. The article is useful in that it provides a background for Mexican comic books and dates the first issue of this odd but first Conan comic at 1958, but the author at the time thought there had only been 16 issues when in fact I saw an issue #60 sold on Ebay recently and that was identified as the final issue. Supposedly this comic had been published weekly in Mexico and had also been written up in the 1970s in SAVAGE SWORD #26. But other than having been published in 1989, I don't know where this article appeared. I'm going to publish it in SWORD & FANTASY #9 in the near future.-- James Van Hise
Nope. I'm sure its an interesting article, but the ORIGINAL Mexican version was in the early 1950s.

Money and muscle, that's what I want; to be able to do any damned thing I want and get away with it. Money won't do that altogether, because if a man is a weakling, all the money in the world won't enable him to soak an enemy himself; on the other hand, unless he has money he may not be able to get away with it.
--Robert E. Howard to Harold Preece, ca. June 1928--
