Cause it's time for change, like a nickel or a dime
I'm Roman, I'm a barbarian, I'm Conan
You were sleeping on me, you were dosin"
Nicki Minaj is truly a master wordsmith...

Musically, most Conan references I've seen come from heavy metal or it's various sub genres. I'm not talking about Manowar, but of bands who have actually bothered reading Howard. Bands like Ironsword ('Cimmeria', 'Dark Shadows of Stygia'), Gates of Slumber and Battleroar (who have a song all about 'The Tower of the Elephant') etc. There's even a stoner/doom metal band called 'Conan'.
Beyond these types of bands, I haven't seen any real references to Conan that I can recall. Most mainstream mentions I've seen just pop in the name or exploit the dumb muscleman stereotype.

He probably performed his own caesarean. "

That silly fun quote made me immediately think of 'Conan' because of the silly 'born cutting scene' in the recent Momoa-conaaan-garbage film.
They could do a silly-fun scene in an S&S comedy spoof film:
...the big ugly barbarian mother is hit on the head by a big rock on the edge of a crazy battle.
she is pregnant and dying fast.
her shaggy hulking husband only carries a huge Club, so he runs off to find a knife.
a small sword blade stabs up from inside her big belly and cuts a neat round big hole [ complete with silly sawing sound ]...
[ very little blood is shown, except on the blade, and they use a low camera angle so you cannot see inside the hole.
> the little sword is very like the famous 'atlantean sword' used in CTB film ! ]
...a little 18" tall muscular barbarian baby climbs out.
he is dripping covered in fluid, wearing a soggy furry brown diaper/nappy, and a full head of black hair over his tough arnie-like face and big chin.
he stands and poses on her belly, with his sword in both hands, and he snarls defiantly up at the dark thunder clouds above...
...his Mum is horrified and shouts " Cromb ! "
then she knocks him off her and he splats head first into deep mud.
then she dies.

Stumbled across this extensive list of Howard-inspired heavy metal today. Hope it gives the metal heads more to explore http://echoesofcromr...tal_Music_.html
I love that the author of this article starts it off by quoting himself and then going on about how his obscure band's obscure album "is, to this day, a landmark in epic heavy metal."
No ego whatsoever.

"Bought Dark Horse El CID Eerie Presents and the foreword by Dan Braun mentions good old Howard stories and his contribution to comics successes in the past.
'...hardly a daring risk considering the highly successful run that Conan the Barbarian was enjoying over at Marvel.'
He goes on to mention Kull and compares El Cid and Conan, 'While El Cid was driven by spiritual devotion and loyalty to country , Conan was only loyal to his animal instincts and his desires of the moment'.
Very good to see the father of S&S mentioned."
