SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
I'm pleased to announce that copyrights and necessary arrangements with Paradox have finally been cleared and that my

Robert E. Howard: Selected Poems

with Introduction, selections, and commentary by yours truly is available at lulu.com — the direct link is:
http://www.lulu.com/content/6494170
This is the paperbound edition and will be followed in the next few days by a hardcover edition.

In this selection, which includes poems divided into 30 thematic and topical chapters, I try to demonstrate the range of Howard's verse as well as his excellence as a poet. Each chapter has a one-page intro, and the book also includes a general introductory essay and three separate indexes: by title, by first line, and a "Form Finder" (to allow quick access to the various types and genres of poetry that Howard practices).

My small book of homages, Coffman Street — a dozen poems FOR and inspired by Robert E. Howard is also available at LuLu.

Yours in the interest of Robert E. Howard studies,

Frank Coffman

Thanks much, Deuce,

It's been a long journey with many forks in the road and detours, be we finally got there. I was all set to get most of the contractual stuff finished at CP this past June -- and of course that was my "rained out" event due to the floods in Dallas-FtWorth. I've had this thing pretty well finished since early 2007 (although I have done quite a bit of fine tuning and index polishing since then. I'm just glad to have it finally out.

In Steve Eng's excellent essay from back in the 80s, he says near the end that "someday" someone will do a "Selected Poems" and help to establish REH in his proper place as a poet. I hope that this is the book. I think I've struck a few new angles with my 30 section divisions, and I feel pretty confident that those who peruse this tome will come away seeing Bob Howard as a much more complex and broad-ranging poet and writer than they may have thought previously.

Cheers! and Onward!

Frank

Thanks,

I should have the hardcover up and available over this coming weekend. Two other books in progress: The Sonnets of Robert Ervin Howard and A Soul of Fire: Essays on the Poetry of Robert E. Howard. My work on the stylometrics of Howard's Conan stories is progressing slowly. One essay that I'm going to send to The Dark Man is being polished up: "Bards Before Bob: Howard's Poetic Inspirations and Influences."

Cheers! and Onward!

Thanks much. My French is a little rusty, but the blurb looks good. Merci for the posting. Interesting web site -- I'll have to check it out more often

As one of the backers of this project, my thought was, the buyer will now have three choices when it comes to poetry.

1) A Word from the Outer Dark - a pocket sized book of poetry, a 100 best list, cheap to acquire and a great sampler

2) Selected Poetry - a much larger book, for those that want to see a sizable portion of REH's poetry, sorted and with commentary

3) Collected Poetry - for those that want EVERYTHING! :)
