The Early Adventures Of El Borak

their first publication in 2010 will be THE EARLY ADVENTURES OF EL
BORAK, featuring Lal Singh, Yar Ali Khan, and The Sonora Kid.
This release should coincide with Del Rey's release of EL BORAK AND
OTHER DESERT ADVENTURES in February. EARLY ADVENTURES features those
hard-to-find tales of El Borak originally published by Cryptic
Publications in the 1980s.
Anyone interested in this volume is encouraged to send an email to the
REH Foundation to help them determine the size of the print run. The
email address is info@rehfoundation.org.

What about "The Devil's Joker" and "Knife, Bullet and Noose"?
I haven't read any Sonora Kid stories. What's exceptional about those two?
It seems a shame to come this close and not have all the Sonora Kid stories in one volume.

Those two are finished pro stories, and as such we thought they'd go better in the Westerns volume. Yes, once again, REH sticks us in conundrums: All the characters works together, or all the genre works together. Just part of the fun of sorting REH.

This El Borak volume might be my first REH Foundation purchase
"I am the law!" roared Kull, swinging up his axe; it flashed downward and the stone tablet flew into a hundred pieces. The people clenched their hands in horror, waiting dumbly for the sky to fall.

We should start taking pre-orders soon, but I thought folks would want to see the other El Borak cover by the Keegans.
And it's not too late to email your interest in the above title to help us determine how large the first printing will be:

Any idea of a ball-park price based on previous Foundation books ? Unless I missed it I presume it's a Hardcover ? Are any of Tim's illustrations being used in the book ?

There are no illustrations within the book itself, except a few by REH himself. And I'd rather not talk about cost just yet as we haven't even received the estimate from the printer, but I'll go out on a limb and say it will cost less than the last few REHFP titles.

At least you'll have something decent to read when you're living in a bare room with a solitary candle for heat
It does look good though, better count the pennies in my big jar!

If i wanted this book in the near future.
Also wonder about juvenile thing, how old was REH when he wrote them ? Was he near the pro writer days age wise ? Are they written like real stories like adult El Borak.
I dont know what to expect of juvenile writing of his.

Depending on demand, after the first printing runs out we could do another printing. Depending on demand, and our contract with Paradox.
I'm not certain of his age when he wrote these, but I'm thinking it was 15-16. Most of the pieces are fragments, though a few are pretty lengthy. I wouldn't classify these with the later El Borak stories, which were written when Howard was at his peak.
