Also, if you ever come across a book called "The Incredible Adventures of Dennis Dorgan," BUY IT, no matter what the cost, even if you have to sell your soul to get it! It's a collection of very funny, action-packed stories that take place in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and other parts of the Orient.

I've got that Dorgan book. Man, Howard had quite a humorous side to him. My favorites, though, are the Breckinridge Elkins stories.
HunterElite: Try Amazon.com to get an idea of wht'a out there. Also, you can find a list of REH's works and books somewhere around here (I'm sure someone can throw in a link here). If you have some local used book stores, try those. I'm always amazed at what washes up there, and for such good prices.
Bison has published some great collections of westerns, horror, boxing and crusader stories by Howard recently. Now's the time to get into his works; there's suddenly alot of stuff out there right now.

Has anyone created or would anyone be willing to create a list of must have REH books?
Basically what I'm looking for is a way to own all of REH's stories. I would prefer compilation books, like the Del Rey books that have several stories in one book. The reason for this is to minimize cost. They don't have to include extras like the Del Rey books do (would be nice), but I just want to have every one of his stories. If there are any books with his poetry, I would like that also. yeah, pretty much everything he ever wrote, lol.

Lots of what REH wrote, especially poetry, hasn't been published yet. I would counsel patience. Wandering Star, Del Rey, Wildside, Bison Books - they're all gearing up to publish cool Howard stuff. I you just can't wait, google "robert e howard" and "bibliography", rob some liquor stores and start buyin' REH books off the net.
Support the Robert E. Howard Foundation. It helps you and Robert E. Howard's legacy.

On lulu.com, you can order REH: World's Greatest Pulpster, edited by Dennis McHaney. In it is an article by Rob Roehm, addressing this very point, cheapest and easiest way to get ALL the stories. He's only addressing stories, not the poetry or letters. Hopefully have the BIG biblio out SOMETIME (it was sent to the publisher back in January), which will show you where to find the poetry and letters.

anyone else want to offer their input?
I just started reading Girasol Collectibles' 'Blood of the Gods and Other Stories.'
Country of the Knife was the 1st story and I just have to say "WOW!" El Borak is awesome! The story kept me riveted from beginning to end (which is basically like every other REH story).

Well, if you are looking at it from a fantasy perspective, which is where some of us are coming from, but not all, since several on here are interested also in barbarians and/or history, and other aspects, then here is a list that I hope will helpfully simplify what I consider to be the core REH collection:
Kull Exile of Atlantis
Coming of Conan
Bloody Crown of Conan
Conquering Sword of Conan
Bran Mak Morn
Solomon Kane
Almuric (available in OP editions from Grant, Berkley, Ace)
The rest of the Baen REH library (total seven paperback volumes)
Nameless Cults
Black Stranger
Poetry- Always Comes Evening (you can probably find this on Abebooks fairly reasonable)

Selected Letters (2 volumes Necronomicon Press)
Dark Valley Destiny or any upcoming full bio

do you have a link to the Baen books because I'm only finding 2 of them?
This is what I was thinking of doing, based off of what Amazon.com has for sale.
Kull Exile of Atlantis
Coming of Conan
Bloody Crown of Conan
Conquering Sword of Conan
Bran Mak Morn
Solomon Kane
The End Of The Trail: Western Stories (The Works of Robert E. Howard) by Robert E. Howard, Rusty Burke
The Riot At Bucksnort And Other Western Tales (Works of Robert E. Howard) by Robert E. Howard, David Gentzel
The Black Stranger And Other American Tales (The Works of Robert E. Howard Series) by Robert E. Howard, Steven Tompkins
Boxing Stories (The Works of Robert E. Howard Series) by Robert Ervin Howard, Chris Gruber
Lord Of Samarcand And Other Adventure Tales Of The Old Orient (The Works of Robert E. Howard Series) by Robert E. Howard, et al.
Nameless Cults: The Complete Cthulhu Mythos Tales Of Robert E. Howard
Gates of Empire by Robert E. Howard
Treasures of Tartary by Robert E. Howard
But the problem is, I don't know if those contain ALL of the stories.

Not by a long stretch considering there are somthing like 400+ stories. If you go here you can find them all and where they can be found.

If you have Lord of Samarcand, you do not need Gates of Empire, I believe IIANM. Lord has about twice as many as Gates. But it IS very helpful with Howard to have a checklist or biblio of some kind, and I should have listed that. I hear that there is to be a new edition of Last Celt by Glenn Lord this summer, so that would be the ultimate. I also have a biblio of REH that appeared in a Howard fanzine called Cromlech by Robert Price, that has his fiction but not poetry. Here is a link to the Baen books, since most of them are already out of print. Of course, basically you would only need Cormac and the three misc collections, since Del Rey has redone Kull, Solomon Kane, and Bran in new editions. The Cthulhu book has been redone as Nameless Cults.

Coming of Conan
Bloody Crown of Conan
Conquering Sword of Conan
Bran Mak Morn
Solomon Kane
Blood of the Gods and Other Stories
Dark Valley Destiny
One Who Walked Alone
The Miscast Barbarian
Selected Letters (31-36)

what about Treasure of Tartary or are all those stories in Lord of Samarcand?
I want to get every story (that includes all the boxing, western, detective, etc) that he ever wrote.
i was hoping someone had already gone through this and made a list.

yes, thats a good list if you want to know what every story is and what every book published is, but thats not what i'm asking. i want to get every REH story ever published but in the most cost effective way. Like the Del Rey books, they contain every story written for that particular character. So if I bought Coming of Conan, Bloody Crown of Conan, Conquering Sword of Conan, Bran Mak Morn: The Last King, and Savage Tales of Solomon Kane, I would have every Conan, Solomon Kane, and Bran Mak Morn story and wouldn't need to buy any other books of those characters.
Sure, I could go out and buy every book out there, but since there are so many, i would be overlapping and wasting money. If I have to overlap some (and I'm sure I probably will), thats fine, but I don't want to get to a point where its wasting money.
