We did our best, Mr. Chambers is happy of the result and the lucky winner has been a REH fan for decades.
Not bad, isn't it?

Full run of color Sunday newspaper strips here, decided to slowly reduce my Conan collection which is quite substantial. I won't sell it all, but you can expect some choice pieces over the next while.

Let me know if you have any questions.

So no one is interested in CONAN comics here? How about some offers...at least.

These CONAN comics may end up at the local comic store if no interest becomes apparent....which would be a shame...make offers, the worst I can say is 'no'.

I hate to part from it, but I need some cash and will have to make a drastic selection on the shelves. First to go is a leatherbound Kull from Subterranean Press, who took over Wandering Star when they decided they couldn't afford to publish any more Howard works, leaving us stranded with Tome 3 of the Conan publications off the hook. The book is Mint, with its leatherbound case, it's number 28 of 50. I throw in the sketches booklet too. Being pretty passionate about my books too, I will consider any good offer and will keep it for a reasonable amount of time if you need to save up to buy. Thanks to PM to show your interest.

Sharn :o No offense but your asking prices are pretty high by most standards. To get an idea of what your comics go for online please visit mycomicshop.com and compare. My local comic book store gives 25% of Comic Overstreet Price guide and then resales them at 50% off of cover and they only purchase comics that are hot and big sellers.

A picture is worth a thousand words and so is condition. I never purchase any comic or book online used unless I see a scan of the front and back cover.

I've been reading and collecting comics for 50 years and get my new comics from the local comic store and used comics from another store in the local area and keep looking each week at the mom and pop used book store where prices are 1/2 off of cover price including hardcover and trade comics. I got a Thor priced at $29 for $15 and it was only two years old and like brand new.

I wish you the best and good luck. :)

Hi CBloke :) Did you sell your books on Ebay? Man they are nice looking. If they were mine I'd take a part-time job just to keep them. If I had an extra $100 I make an offer to you.

I'm going to put up some items from my collection on eBay by the end of the week. These items are not for sale yet, I just would appreciate the experts on this site to look over the narrative to help the accuracy of my statements (for example, until today, I thought that the first publication of the Frost Giant's Daughter was in the listed magazine, when it was actually in one of the Gnome Press books a few months before). Here we go (and thanks):

This auction is for eight Conan-related publications (seven magazine issues and one paperback book).

Robert E. Howard completed 21 tales featuring Conan the Barbarian, 17 of which were published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales from 1932-1936. This collection includes first publications of the four that were published after Howard’s death:

THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF THE GOD IN THE BOWL
Space Science Fiction, September 1952
158 pages, all intact, slightly yellowed pages, back cover damaged (see photo).

THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF THE BLACK STRANGER
Fantasy Magazine (first issue of this publication), February 1953, a little fragile with slightly yellowed pages, but complete (160 pages) and intact.

THE FIRST MAGAZINE PUBLICATION OF THE FROST GIANT’S DAUGHTER
Fantasy Fiction, August 1953, 160 pages, complete and intact, with slightly yellowed pages and some creasing. A few months before this magazine came out, this story was included in The Coming of Conan (1953), a Gnome Press hardcover.

THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF THE VALE OF LOST WOMEN
Magazine of Horror, Spring 1967, 130 pages, complete, tight, and in good condition.

In addition to the four magazines above, this collection contains four other “firsts”:

THE FIRST POST-WEIRD TALES MAGAZINE REPRINTS OF CONAN TALES
Avon Fantasy Reader Number 8, 1948, “Queen of the Black Coast,” 126 pages, complete, tight, and in remarkably good condition with nice cover illustration depicting Conan being saved by the ghost of his girl (this scene was also a Weird Tales cover in 1934 and in the 1982 movie).
and
Avon Fantasy Reader Number 10, 1949, “A Witch Shall be Born,” 128 pages, complete, tight, and in remarkably good condition with nice cover illustration from a scene in the story (but, interestingly, the hero shown is not Conan, making this unique among all Conan story cover illustrations, be they magazines, books, or comics).

THE FIRST PAPERBACK BOOK PUBLICATION OF A CONAN STORY
Conan the Conqueror (The Hour of the Dragon), Ace “Double Novel Book,” 1950, 188 pages (plus 132-page second novel, The Sword of Rhiannon) with slightly yellowed pages, normal reading wear, a few slight dings at page corners. This was published about the same time as the first volume of the Gnome Press Conan collection.

THE FIRST MAGAZINE PUBLICATION OF A CONAN “COLLABORATION”
Fantastic Universe Science Fiction, December 1955, 128 pages, featuring “Conan, Man of Destiny,” a non-Conan Robert E. Howard short story rewritten as a Conan tale. This story was also included in the Gnome Press collection. Good condition.

Hey Blanor,

"The Frost-Giant's Daughter" was written by REH as a Conan yarn, but when the story was not accepted by Weird Tales, REH rewrote it, changing the main character's name to "Amra." The Fantasy Fan published it in 1934 (under the title "Gods of the North"). The 1953 version was rewritten by L. Sprague de Camp.

Whenever you have doubts on publication dates, you should check Bill Thom's excellent website Howardworks: http://howardworks.com/

It lists every story, article, fragment and synopsis written by REH.

Here's the page on Conan: http://howardworks.c...bject.htm#conan

You can verify the accuracy of your statements over there. Hope that helps.
