here is a still from the animatics for the movie, the low poly models will be replaced with the actors and props

There'd have to be buckets of it all over the landscape, considering the slaughter that took place, so this looks like a pretty good/grim start.

Thanks Tex, yeah it's just a starting point but it is all coming together. good to know that some are enjoying the updates. the animatics are going to slow my posts up a little but I will be posting them as soon as I can

Here you go Tex. a little more blood ............. Now that I have some of the work flow of Blender down and some pre sets stored, I will focus more on the animatics. once the animatics are done the I will straighten out things like have the bloody textures fall off where the it separates from the snow. You can see in this picture where the bloody texture just stops in the background.

nothing really that I can show. my animatics at this point is like a stick figure storyboard because it is all low poly stuff. hopefully soon though

did you checkout the perks at the indie gogo project @ http://www.indiegogo...-North?a=437826 ? We can use all the support we can get to make this happen also most of my updates are at the yahoo group and the facebook page so feel free to come check them out as well.

right now I am working on the animated storyboard to workout the camera angles and pacing of the movie

I have been to several animated movies in the last few months, and I noticed that the typical animated feature employs multiple teams of animator specialists to do the work that you are doing by yourself. Your ambition and dedication are awe-inspiring. I had it easy. I just had to do the work of one screenwriter.

Yip, kudos to you. Urs is a harder project by far than many. You are encorporating real life and animation, hard to do. Mines is 3 mins long with 2 mins of actual animation and it has taken nearly a year?!

Thank you both and I will keep at it. either way, this movie will be made. If the indie gogo project picks up in donations then I will finish it with live-action and animation but if the indie gogo project fisses out then I will finish it as an animation. My thought was to make the animatic for the indie gogo project but if the project doesn't get made then use the animatic as the animated movie and model some high res. characters to replace the low poly stuff. I may use Justin as a reference for body motion and lip syncing because he is a really good actor and so is Jeslen but she lives to far for me to pay her to come to San Francisco.

I was finally able to land a full time job that doesn't pay much but it keeps me moving so it may take me longer to make it but it will be made.

I took a break from the animatics to do some modeling. If GOTN made as a mix of live and animation then this model will be used in another all animation that I will work on after GOTN. This model of Conan is an older one, a lot has changed, for the better I hope, I used it to model the helm to see how it would look so here it is

My computer is dying a slow and painful death and I will be saving up for a new one but I am now cutting back on some polygons to save on render time. I get the funny feeling that I am not going to get the chance of doing GOTN as a mix so I am addressing the models for the animation to finish this project so those who did show support has the choice of a refund or for me to fulfill the perks. Even though the new computer will be able to render more and faster than this one, I feel I should reduce the poly count anyways. here is the new adjustments on Conan and I will be addressing the tunic to mail problem with the model at a later time. I need to get ready for work but just wanted to throw this up for those interested
just wanted to add that the hard drive with the models on it stopped working so I had to pretty much start over. I now keep a copy of the updated version on another hard drive in hopes that I don't have two drives go at once.

Looking good. people sometimes dont realise the length and hard work that goes into animation. Without the processor power and storage a task as hard as yours is gonna hit snags. Do a small one first and then do the main one when you have built up a portfolio of animation etc. The bro is doing a 2 min video and it is now heading into its second year!! Crazy but some ones gotta do it.

Thanks, yeah, I couldn't grasp what goes into writing a story as I am not a writer but the research and development on the characters and behaviors must take some time to do. animation is about the same with it's modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, shape keys, vertex groups, switches and controllers not to mention the dynamics of collision, soft bodies, particle systems........ the list goes on. But it is what I love about animation. I have had a thing for GOTN since I read it and I have wanted to do it ever since so I have a few years riding on this story with production notes and ideas that I can not let go so maybe once I am able to do it, I could move on to the next story or project. since this is my first ambitious project using Blender and that I am riding solo on this project, I need to map out a good workflow to stick to.

As I mentioned before, those who donated your support for either this project or the animation before it, please let me me know if you want a refund or to keep your perk. Also, If anyone is interested in having an item made that I was making for the movie like the vambraces, war belt or necklace, send me a pm. Any and all funds raised will go towards a new computer fund

Not knowing a thing about animation, I imagine it must be about 50 times harder than writing; maybe 500 times harder than transcribing somebody else's plot. Keep my contribution, and go for it!
