- The PS3 game was really just a button masher with PS2 graphics and was pretty tiring after the first hour or two. It's closest relative (God of War) was infinitely better (and older).
- Age of Conan started out with a bang, especially in the visual and combat department, and quickly devolved into this floating turd that has managed to avoid flushing up until now, but everyone knows it's coming.
- I didn't really hear anything great or really bad about the board game. I kind of got the impression the game was like the AoC books, entertaining but nothing special. You play it a time or two, and then you shelve it. I think it's been discontinued as well.
- The Conan CCG was eliminated almost immediately after it was released.
- Then the news of an upcoming iphone game, and we get this when we should be getting this.
I would really love for them to take the time to do one right. They have the license to draw the crowd, make the commitment to produce something worthwhile, and realize the gains.

Mixed news for me because I've played the last few Conan games and I don't think Paradox is paying enough attention to quality control on their license as they should be. I'm not talking about ensuring that the game is 'all things REH' as much as making sure the game is at least fun:

I just saw your links and man do they speak for themselves!
Conan and his world more than DESERVE to feature in a game such as Elder Scrolls Oblivion IV ( action-role) , or even a real time strategy involving Aquilonia under Conan's rule against Koth, Nemedia, Stygia etc based on Howard's original (and sufficiently rich enough!) scenario . Hell, even (yes EVEN) some LSdC material as Conan the Liberator would be fitting for this type of game.
WHy hasn't there been one real time strategy game with Conan? WTF is going on? Play by mail "Hyborian wars" from SSOC time is a thing of the past, they seriously need to consider this, I'm certain it would please legions of roleplaying geeks and serious Howard readers equally.
Paradox could cash in serious dough if they bucked up and produced a game similar to Lord of the Rings : Battle for Middle Earth 2 (I'm saying this but I'm not a Tolkien fan at all!! the game was well made and successful, this is the point)
The only positive point I see in Paradox's latest choices is the appearance they gave to Conan in the latest action game and in AOC , a representation which would please both REH fans and Conan comicbook fans. But was it really their choice or did they only approve, who knows.
Graphic representation is one thing, making a solid action, role or strategy game is another step. We've been waiting for a while now.
ps : @Crom's Bones, you seem upset with the phone game, but have you ever seen the old Conan game on the Nintendo system? Truly a pity!!

I agree that Red Ded Redemption, with elements from Assassin's Creed II, is the ideal model for a Conan game. A single player action adventure with Conan as the main character would be the way to go.

Read about it here...
Seven things I want to see in a Conan game
And here...
Seven more things I want to see in the new Conan game

(who would happily drop serious coin on a system to play a REAL Conan game)

Or The Dragon Age engine.Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but a singleplayer Conan RPG that makes use of the Age of Conan engine (and setting) would be lovely.
