Ill bite. I blame my Father for igniting the fires for all things fantasy. At a very young age I was often "sent to my room". Well on one occasion my Father "slipped" me some old books including Dune/The Hobbit and some old paperbacks. That was all that was needed and from there i sought out the likes of the Grey Mouser, Elric, and Conan.

Ive been involved in D&D, war gaming (both table top and online) for 2 decades. I really enjoy online gaming and the human element in multi-player scenarios. Id really like to see a large interactive online Hyborian Age ala Star Wars Galaxies or Everquest.....

Hello all, Mitra's blessings....

I am also fairly new to the forum, although I've been a Howard fan and pulp literature scholar for a decade or so. I'm also a writer of young adult science fiction and fantasy, finally on the verge of that break. (Fingers crossed.) :)

I got involved in the forum when I noticed some requests for reviews for Conan pastiches. I've posted two already over at Conan.no, and hope to add more in the coming months.

I myself discovered Conan when I became interested in the golden age of pulp literature. I was reading H. P. Lovecraft and Raymond Chandler and Cornell Woolrich and Dashiell Hammett, and it became impossible to ignore the frequent mention of the great Robert Ervin Howard. I dug up all the old Lancer/Ace/Sphere volumes and was hooked for good, then started hunting down the pure text versions through used book services and reading any other Howard I could find. Beind a J.R.R. Tolkien fan for years made it easy to embrace a "new" fantasy author who had also created a bloody joyous, all encompassing world.

Yes, I'll admit it... I have enjoyed some of the pastiches. (But I've disliked quite a few more). I hope to share some of these experiences on the forum.

Welcome, Ring-Haunter. :)

Nice to hear from sombody who not only enjoys Howard but other pulp writers as well.
You'll find that alot of us are also fans of Lovecraft, Hammond, Smith and the others.
Look forward to seeing your thoughts on the pastiches and the purer Howaed texts.
