Welcome to the forum!
I guess I'm part of the Brotherhood, as well. Reading Howard, I do, in a way, feel like I've found a home that I didn't even know existed. I hope it stays that way.
Greetings Everyone!

I?m not great on introductions, so I?ll just say that REH is my favourite writer (of course) and he has inspired me to become a writer myself (although I?m just an amateur).
I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky.
The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing;
Rush in and die, dogs?I was a man before I was a king.

Hi guys, I'm new here but I have been skulking around the forum for some time now. I don't know how much will I be able to contribute but I hope to have some interesting conversations. One of the main reasons I joined was to post my comments in fan fiction area concerning some yarns, so I'll head over there immediately.

Aye, I have been posting there recently, upon discovering Werner as an author. Did you join Vermintime yourself?

Not yet. I've shared a few ToCs with him, so it's probably an idea I should.

After being somewhat of a lurker around here, I found it high time to introduce myself. REH fan from Denmark, only been a fan since the centennial, hoping to, someday, read everything by good ole Bob, though that might not be quite possible. But anyway, hello there.
:rolleyes:Sonny Sixshooter, that's one of the great things about Our Brother: It's a lot to read...in so many different directions...to different genres...different publications...a friend for life, Howard could be, and I hope he is.
And the centennial is the same time I became connected with Howard, too. You're not alone. But, hopefully, we're all on the same journey...
Like so many others have said, WELCOME FROM AMERICA!
And, Denmark Rocks (though I've yet to have the pleasure to see it)!

Hey, all...found out about this thread quite by chance.
Thought I'd post here to kinda introduce myself a little.
I joined this forum only a few months back but I've been a fan of REH for well over twenty years. After years of focusing on two of my other literary faves, HPL and Tolkien, I've recently "re-discovered" Howard and his work.
I'm a member of the REH Foundation (goin' on my second year). I'm also working to fill as many gaps in my admittedly modest Howard collection as I can.
I live about twenty minutes east of L.A. and work in the rare book department of a major research library here on the West Coast.![]()
I really have enjoyed going through a lot of the older threads on this forum (as well as the Cimmerian.com and Mongoose's Conan RPG forum to boot). I've really learned a lot of things about REH and his literary creations that I never would have discovered without this exposure to so many different and learned opinions and explanations. Thank you all.![]()
Oh, and I missed seeing the Solomon Kane film a few months ago because of that damned volcano in Iceland which prevented the print from making it across the Atlantic.
Best to all of you,
Kevin

So my question is this...While reading this omnibus which was totally awesome BTW, I was a little confused...it seemed to skip around a lot during conans life. Is this how the comics go? is there something missing in this book I should be aware of? What I really would like to know, and Im hoping theres a fan out there somewhere who is willing to do this for me...is there a list of any kind of the chronological order of comics/books for conan? Ive seen mentioned that there was a prophecy that he would be king some day and all that but are there comics where he does become king? and are there comics when hes a kid and the prophecy is fortold?
Im talking conan for dummys here...Can someone please post links or a list or something for me to work through? Thanks so much guys! and I look forward to being apart of the conan community!

Starting at the beginning - Robert E. Howard's original Conan tales were not presented in character-chronological order. So, it's not surprising Savage Sword of Conan jumped around a bit.
The more mainstream title of Conan has more of a chronology to it. See the Dark Horse collections for that.
Also, here at the forums, feel free to use the search function.
e.g.; this thread came up when I searched on 'chronology'.

Sounds like a place to start for you.

Oh for sure, but both are totally awesome in their own way. I think my favorite story from Vol.1 of savage sword is people of the dark starting on page 360. There are so so many great stories though, I cant wait to start vol 2.

Gorviss, I have the impression that your contact with Conan is through movies and comics alone. You are missing the experience of Conan in all his full glory unless you read the books containing the stories written in Robert E. Howard's original prose. And I speak of stories by Robert E. Howard alone, not pastiche stories by other writers.

"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard
