Among the shadows of the tombs his dusky people creep.
I speak the Word from the hidden gulfs that never knew the sun
Send me a servant for my hate, oh scaled and shining One!

Hello I'm new here. I'm a long time Conan fan. I first discovered Conan through R.E.Howards association with H.P.Lovecraft and there connected Mythos. I read Dark Horse Conan aswell and also play Age of Conan. My favorite element of the Conan tales are demons and dark gods that lurk in Hyboria's forgotten places and the dark wizards and priest who serve them. My favorite story in 'The Slithering Shadow' but i have not as of yet read all the tales.
Glad you found your way here, Alhazred! I envy you your first time reading Howard's Conan yarns. BTW, we have threads regarding the Mythos and the Hyborian Age, as well as a thread on all of REH's Mythos tales.

I have been a Conan fan since I was a teenager in the 80's,which then led to me liking Kull, which led to me liking Solomon Kane and Black Vulmea as well. By the time I was a young adult I realized I was a fan of REH.
I look forward to interacting with the like minded people on this forum. My son and I have a Conan blog and we'd love to have any of you drop in and check it out. (I linked it in my signature as I didn't want to break any forum rules.) It mostly has to do with the Conan comics. I'm so excited that my son has become a fan of Conan too...Almost feel like the torch has been passed on and he'll tend to the flame.
Thanks!

I are being the Willderbeast, from the sparkly, sunny (and suspiciously sea monster-free) waters of Prince Edward Island, Canada. I've recently hopped aboard the forums as a full-on member after months spent occasionally popping in and out for tidbits of information as I wallow my way through Robert E. Howard's fiction -- a practice I continue to follow, but this time with a username.
I originally came to Howard's work through H.P. Lovecraft after reading the short story, The Black Stone in a Cthulhu mythos omnibus I'd received for Christmas in 1997. I'd long known of both men's admiration and penpalship with one another, so it seemed only natural to switch trains over to Howard's work as I wrapped up my reading of Lovecraft; the man's complete catalog hardly reaches Howard's voluminous output, but it's pretty great all the same.
At the time, finding anything written by Howard outside the used bookstores amounted to a well-nigh impossible task with the recently published Baen editions going out-of-print and the first Wandering Star/Del Ray editions still more than a year or two away. Nonetheless, I tracked down and read the adventures of Kull, Bran Mak Morn, El Borak and Solomon Kane, along with a soupcon of other stories and poems before giving it a rest for awhile. I can still recall my first late night, pants-wetting reading of Pigeons From Hell -- spooky stuff!
Of late, I've returned to reading Howard's fiction through the loving ministrations of Penguin Books' fine collection, Heroes in the Wind and the fortuitous birthday acquisition of the Prion Conan the Barbarian omnibus. Having blazed my way through both volumes, I've now resumed my readings with the Baen Cormac Mac Art edition and will likely continue in this vein for quite some time.
As for my participation on this board, you're not likely to hear from me very often since I tend to use the forum mainly for information and enlightenment concerning Howard's stories and characters. Nonetheless, I wanted to introduce myself and thank you all for your knowledgable opinions and insights that have made this place an invaluable learning resource for me.
It's also kinda fun!
Cheers, mates!

Ah, a fellow Canuck. Welcome aboard.
Thanks, eh! Just had a boo at your Website and I gotta say I love Toronto a lot; I'm considering a move there at some point when my Marketing/Advertising course is finished next April.
I'm originally from Nova Scotia - the same province that forum member Seamvs appears to be from. In fact, I'd thought about contributing to the Oak Island Money Pit thread, but I didn't really have any insights to offer since I lived in the next bay over -- St. Margaret's Bay -- and hadn't been to the place since I was nine. I do remember being upset we couldn't catch a tour boat to the place, but that's about it, really.
Oh, and there was ice cream -- I do remember that!
Wonderful, wonderful ice cream.

I got into Conan at about the age of 11. Wow almost 30 years ago. My mom asked me to pick a book for reading while we were in a shopping mall, and when i saw book 1 of the 12 book series on the shelf, i decided to give it a try and have been hooked ever since. I think i read that book a hundred times, that first year. I could probably re-tell the god in the bowl or the tower of the Elephant word for word, lol.
I have a nice book , comic, toy, collection, anything Conan.
I hope to post and contribute a bit more.
thanks
Also from Toronto
