It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. I liked the human vs human fight scenes. And it's the first time I've ever seen "bullet time" done correctly. It turns out that the gods fight in bullet time. That's why they're gods.

I thought it was suprisingly tame action wise. Cavil looked good, believable in his action scenes. There werent any interesting good human vs human aciton scenes until the tunnel near the end. The gods had the only exciting fight scenes.

Also the film took itself too seriously. Many calm parts that was written so cheezy. It only looked like 300. Lacked fun action scenes and it wasnt fun to watch.

I went in with low expectations too, being 3D fantasy action. Visuals wise was the only real good thing.

I didn't like the actor who played Zeus. This slim dapper guy with his pencil mustache. Didn't look like my mental conception of what Zeus is supposed to look like. I guess that makes me a Greek Pantheon purist. ;) Actually, Mickey Rourke would have made a better Zeus.

Evidently Zeus killed Ares because he violated the Starfleet Prime Directive. But what does it mean when a god dies? Is it just temporary? 5 to 20 aeons in Erebus with time off for good behavior?

How about not even naming Herakles/Hercules in the film ? I had to read IMDB to know the guy with the sword who fought the titans in the end, died was Hercules. The most powerful hero, one of bigges heroes in Greek myth!

That was funny :D

I felt it was a so-so flick. The gods looked like Art-Deco pieces. The weapons were sucky! Really, Athena fighting with kamas and Ares using Thor's hammer.....PAHHHHlease! I say wait for video on this one.

The upside of being a god is you get to fight in bullet time.
The downside is that when you make a law it is UNBREAKABLE. The limitation on absolute power. If you're the king of the gods, you better be careful what laws you make. Impulsive gods get in trouble.

There are so many similarities between Greek mythology and Norse mythology, I wonder when and where the cultures split off from each other.

Meh, it was fun, but I am glad I'm not as much a stickler for Greek myth as I am for REH. :)
Athena was miscast; I would have brought in a Meryl Streep type. And yeah, Zeus should have been more Shakespearean, with a full beard for Chrissake.

Spoiler

Plus wasn't the real Hyperion a titan? Okay, I'll put down my Bullfinch now... :D

Just came out of the movie. Wow... how bad. Bad acting (by the two main characters Theseus and the seer girl), stupid story with a million plotholes and forced character stupidity, bad visuals, everything looked so brutally fake, that the movie had the visual appeal of a cheap TV-movie and just unemotional all the way through. Polished rubbish. Just stunned at how dissapointed I am at this movie.
Let us show them our hearts and then show them theirs!

I didn't see it, but I remember watching the trailer, and when Thesus gives the "Fight for..." speech I expected him to suddenly break into an impromptu rendition of Fighting the World by Manowar.

I'm under the impression that this would have made it a substantially better film.
