There is always a way, if the desire be coupled with courage.

Nordheimers are a lot of fun. This group is not part of the SCA but has friendly connections to the SCA.
"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

Butser Ancient Farm is an open-air museum west of London. I visted there once. It's what I picture a Cimmerian village to be like, but surrounded with more trees:

I was looking through their photos, and found one that showed a friendly Roman Legion attacking them. What fun!

Thing is, you would've seen a similar Irish Gaelic village in Eire just a mere thousand years ago. ;)
