"Our basic purist premise:
ROBERT E. HOWARD, ENTIRELY ALONE, WITHOUT ASSISTANCE FROM ANY OTHER PERSON, CREATED THE CHARACTER CONAN OF CIMMERIA. NO OTHER PERSON OR PERSONS SHOULD BE INTRUDING THEIR WORK INTO THE VOLUMES OF HOWARD'S CONAN STORIES.
In essence, we believe that the work of any creative artist -- writer, painter, illustrator, musician, what-have-you -- is a unique expression of an artistic point of view. It should not be appropriated or altered by others without the artist's consent. No other writer has Robert E. Howard's unique point of view, and no other writer knows what Howard would have done with his character had he lived. Upon his death, his canon, the expression of his artistic vision, became fixed. Tampering with it now is desecration."

I'm new to the fore and found this forum just by chance and by reading the posts, man what a fiery crowd. I'm an illustrator...professional?...well, I don't put bread on the table with that, so I guess I'm way behind your expectations...but yes, I'm an illustrator of sorts, I do sci-fi and fantasy...and YES, Conan is one of my favorite characters, even if I am a 52 year old fart, My martial arts days are behind me and I tend to regard the world now with a kind of a cinic look. Therefore, subjecting my work to you guys, would be a lesson in FLAC. You see, you would destroy my stuff...but nevertheless it would be interesting to read what you would say about my endeavors unto the fantasy realm in general and the Conan realm in particular. Don't be kind or try to be nice...bring in the iron and fire and let me weep.

And more to come.
Ok. why do I do what I do, concerning armor...I have studied armor since forever...I have hundreds of pictures of medieval armor and actually I have a nissei friend who makes medieval armor and another one, a westerner who makes japanese swords...go figure....
Anyway, I'm glad I hit this site...and hope to hear from you people...
Cheers and all the best
BTW, if you want to post any image of mine here, do so...it would be an honor no matter if good or BAD citiques will enssue

that was a phase...I don't know man...just trying new media and trying to get in the market, but alas it's hard as hell and the competition is as hard as it can get even though I have seen really bad published stuff...not that I am any good, but jezzz, in some of those instances I believe I could fare better

"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

Does anyone worry about images of armor on bare skin in arctic or desert conditions?
that's what bugs me the most in movies, they almost never wear gambeson under plate
or mail
& believe me gambeson are a must when wearing thos type or armor
many i'll send into the ground, laughing as they die"

Hey, Gaijinn, as long as you don't care about the market, or fame or fortune, take a look at my Conan screenplays (see my signature for the link). I would love to see you illustrate them, and I promise absolutely no fame or fortune. There is no possible market for my Conan screenplays.

Brother, before I even subscribed, I had allredy taken a peek at your scripts, and yes, we may still do something together...just for the fun of it...no fame nor fortune, maybe even no glory, LOL, but fun, for sure.
