Man,I wish I could read Serbian.I would definitely try to send away for those books. They look fantastic...Looks like Dark Horse has a lot to learn as to how to PROPERLY present Conan.Personally I don't think they'll ever get it.

These are really beautiful editions and the content deserves these...I for one am thinking on going for these even though my Serbian is worse than my Klingon.
How expensive are these books?

I think it's worthwhile...the pulp editions I have are deteriorating pretty fast due to the ammount of humidity here...and thanks for the heads up Aquilonia...found the beast for $R 99,00 with free shiping.

Recently I sent an e-mail to the editor of this book in Brazil and he told me that if the book sells well, he may release a volume II next year with the stories that led to Conan getting engaged. I don`t know what kind of stories are these, nor if they are good indeed and I suggested he should consider realeasing a volume II containing most of the stories drawn by Buscema/Alcala, or Buscema/Zuniga or Buscema/Chan for the SSoC, but he didn`t think it should be a good idea because they don`t have any chronological order or whasoever and they may be confusing to new readers.
That is a shame because those materials are top notch.
So, I`m hoping that Dark Horse considers releasing something like the Serbian editions above, which seem to be, by the way, something to keep for a lifetime.

I remember on reading the ACE editions that someone (L.Sprague DeCamp?) wrote small prefaces in each book or story trying to give a certain chronology to the stories...I wonder if this could be possible with Buscema & Co editions...exactly to give new readers a certain surety of foot, so to speak.

These are really beautiful editions and the content deserves these...I for one am thinking on going for these even though my Serbian is worse than my Klingon.
How expensive are these books?

Around 3000 Serbian dinars. This is aproximately 25 euro's, or 30 american dolars (+ shipping, of course). Same price is for Chronicles of Conan (Konan Hronike). This is price for Serbia, but in case of international order price may vary, I don't know. Unfortunately, first and second book of collected SSoC are sold out, but you can always contact the publisher and I am sure they can work out something for you ;) . Contact email: info@darkwood.co.rs

I'd buy a few deluxe hardcover SSOC volumes myself. Queen of the Black Coast or REH adaptations would be great choices! I liked the deluxe hardcovers for the Roy Thomas/Barry Smith run of CtB!

I just want them to continue printing the trade-paperback SSOC volumes until completion though. They are over halfway there!

You`re welcome!
This book is really something to behold, similar to those serbian editions.
I just wish Mythos publishes another 2 or 3 volumes, that would be great.
It is just a shame that the editor did not agree to publish a volume featuring Buscema/Alcala adaptations when I sent him an-email suggesting those stories. That would be a dream come true.

Do the Serbians or the Brazilians have a version of QotBC?
"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

Read my Conan screenplays at The Scrolls of Ironhand (in particular my transcription of THE FROST GIANT'S DAUGHTER in Act II of "The Snow Devil") at
