A cross between Snow White and Red Nails. A dark tale of love and hate, death and immortality, magic both foul and fair. Charlize Theron is scary brilliant. Chris Hemsworth is much grimmer and grimier than when he plays Thor. And if you feel like screaming "Plot hole!" every time Snow White gets lucky, remember, it's a fairy tale. A much more difficult disbelief to suspend is the idea that Kristen Stewart is fairer than Charlize Theron. <_<

SPOILER WARNING
Highlight to read.
Snow White doesn't get the handsome prince.

I think Charlize's costume in this movie is wicked. Judging simply from appearance, she's the best evil queen I've seen on screen (though I haven't seen the film yet). I love it!

I thought the same thing when I saw the preview. They needed Kate Beckinsale or somebody fairer.

I haven't seen it, so I didn't highlight your spoiler. But, did you like it?

In this movie, Charlize switches faces and personalities as often and as easily as she switches costumes.

A great movie, where Snow White (Kristen Stewart) looks like a black-haired version of Dark Agnes and Red Sonya! :) But I expected a few more of the film - Snow White's deeds after she became a queen, and who she choose for being her king (William or the Huntsman?)...

In fact, that's my biggest beef about the movie - SW's romantic fate is unresolved.

Saw it last night. Excellent writing. Excellent presention of the material. Excellent production values.

What hurts the film terribly for me is the miscasting of Kristen Stewart as Snow White. She's not amazingly beautiful, and she doesn't strike me as one of ultimate purity. Although serviceable, she's not even a gifted actress. With her big ears and buck teeth, she looks very much like your average chick next door. This was the wrong part for her.

What could have been an exceptional movie becomes an OK-pretty good movie because of her.

Everybody else in the film--and I mean everybody--was great. From Charlize Theron, to Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, all the dwarves, the bad queen's brother...everybody owned their roles.

Except for Kristen, who belongs more in stories set in the 21st century.

Between this, the other Snow White movie, and The Hobbit, this must be a banner year for fantasy dwarves on the big screen.

Don't forget Game of Thrones, with a dwarven superstar in the making.

Yes, but Tyrion is a human dwarf, not a fantasy beard-and-warhammer dwarf. ;)

Wow, so this is actually a decent/good movie? That's cool because my wife wants to see it. Glad to hear the Thor dude plays are grimmer role. I always figured he had more potential than what he did with Thor. Of course, I always thought Thor has been betrayed as a very dry character. Kinda boring to me. I'm not so sure anyone has ever cast him right, in the comics or beyond. Then again, maybe that is just how he is. I just think Conan and Hercules would be more fun to go drinking with.

I think the important thing is that dwarves are finding employment. Good for the micro-economy, ya know.

And Tyrion is smarter than any of those jock dwarves. ;)

My impression from the myths is that Herc is a very serious and earnest fellow, not much fun. He would probably seriously drink you under the table, and not even see the humor of it. Whereas the mythological Thor was a party animal.

In the Marvel Comic version, Herc has an even bigger ego than Thor. And worse anger management problems.

And Kristen is the ugliest Snow White I 've seen on screen.

LOL, in speaking with a co-worker today, he thinks Kristen is the sexist thing since Angelina Jolie. I'm not that big on Angelina, but I see what people see in her.

With Kristen, I'm at a total loss.

Ha! Boot - switch the names, and that would be my story.

Jolie makes my skin crawl.

Miss Stewart, like some folks that are considered really attractive, can also look rather weird at times. But I think she looks great a lot of the time.

I've yet to see this film, and will probably wait until it is released on DVD, but while you boys can't stand Miss Stewart, I usually recoil in repulsion at even the mention of Chris Hemsworth :P

Judging by the trailer alone, Sigourney Weaver is the superior Evil Queen as seen in the film Snow White~ A Tale of Terror (or Snow White in the Black Forest as it is sometimes known). Monica Keener is also more suited to the role of Snow White than Kirsten Stewart is.
