Here is a link to a podcast where Sprague and Catherine mention REH and Dark Valley Destiny. The REH part is about 1/2 through. Not particularly interesting but I think Sprague conducts himself with his usual aplomb.

Thanks for sharing Gary. Very interesting. It's easy to see listening to these two how they just didn't get Howard. The self absorbation and pretension is amazing.

Thanks for sharing Gary. Very interesting. It's easy to see listening to these two how they just didn't get Howard. The self absorbation and pretension is amazing.

It is both amazing and predictable that people miss the whole philosophical slant of Conan. I don't exactly agree with Howard's point in the stories (I am a transhumanist, I think Set or Cthulhu pwn human beings and humans should seek to transcend their barbarism and become non-human) but the very fact that he engaged in a transvaluation of values, rejecting the pseudo-Romantic ethos while writing Romance stories, is very impressive and unfortunately lost under the perception of Conan as a buck-naked superhero.

Genius is rarely ever recognized, because it disturbs the herd.
