I just received the Chronicles of Conan vol. 22. Looking inside the book, I see it covers issues up to #173.

The Marvel Conan The Barbarian series ran through to 275 issues.

We're just over half-way through the run. And, I notice that DH is only publishing Chronicles a few times a year.

Are we going to get the entire run before DH decides it's not worth publishing the book anymore? And, if we do, at this rate, how many years will it take us to get the rest of the run?

The same thing goes for Savage Sword and other Conan reprint titles.

I said several years ago that when DHC hit that "post-Thomas" wall, they needed to start doing some serious quality control and just reprint the really worthwhile stuff. More subjective and more hassle, but otherwise you dilute the brand just like Marvel did. I think that's what happening now. People who pick up these reprints are quite possibly not gonna pick up the next.

I know I just quit even looking at CtB and SSoC for a few years there in the '8os. My two lunas.

Dark Horse should have published only the best stories of Savage Sword of Conan and Conan the Barbarian. They won`t make it to the end, we are still halfway, as you said, and, what is worse, people are being compelled to read stories that are not good at all.

Yep. Even I just bought 'em, bagged 'em, and forgot 'em. A quick, cursory read through slitted lids was all they rated after a while. Some nice art. A couple decent scenes. Not much beyond that.

This is why I find some of the more dramatic, garment-rending horror at the current Conan comic's storyline to be exaggerated. Much of the post-Thomas Marvel Conan was far worse.
Seriously, if you find the stories in this collection wanting, just wait until you see some of the stuff that appeared over the next few years. Unbelievable even in retrospect.

I hope they finish the Savage Sword reprints. I long since gave up on the CtB reprints. Once they made the two hardcovers that collected all the Barry Smith issues I sold my paperback CtB reprints.

Savage Sword though I love! Even the bad stuff as I love the art!

Despite catching some flack for it around here, that's one of the big reasons I still love to buy these. Hell, I even get the Chronicles if Buscema's doing the art.

Savage Sword should be published with a nice hardcover and slick paper. Not this format. Very poor.
I stopped buying Savage Sword after volume 6, but, had it been published like Creepy or Eery, I`d still be buying it up to this day.

I guess I'm alone in preferring the paperbacks. Most larger hardback books I buy seem to creak at the spine and it feels like they're going to fall apart. I just wish the Savage Sword collections had better cover art. Volumes 6, 9, 11, and 12 all have terrible covers.

What I wish is that the Savage reprints were printed on larger paper--the same size as the orignal Savage mags.

Barry Smith Archives have got a pretty good binding. Dark Horse could use it on Savage Sword.

I agree! Even if they only give us the thomas run, it would still be worth it!
