Late on July 7, after returning home from a picnic, the building that I live in was struck by lightning, killing our power, gas, phone, cable TV, and internet. We weren't hurt, only inconvenienced. Once power was restored, we determinined that my computer was fried stone dead; my roommate's computer was ok, but we had been knocked off the internet for real. After many interesting adventures (every time they fixed cable TV, the phone went out; every time they fixed the phone, the TV went out, over and over), we are back on the internet. I am trying to learn how to use a new operating system on a new computer, locate old files and data, and reinstall programs.
So now you know why you havn't been hearing from me and why I may not have been responding to queries.

Nice to see you again.

"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

Wow. Tough one. I have a friend whose house also got hit, and another friend whose car got hit while he was driving over a bridge.

Glad you're okay and there was no fire.

Welcome back, Ironhand. Glad to know that you and everyone in your building is ok! These summer storms can be pretty scary sometimes.

Carbonite.com

Actually, my old hard drive, and all my old data, survived. The hangup has been transferring the old files and programs to a new computer, and new operating system, in usable form.

Glad to hear you're back and okay.
"It is more than a mortal sea. Your hands are red with blood and you follow a red sea-path, yet the fault is not wholly with you. Almighty God, when will the reign of blood cease?"

Turlogh shook his head. "Not so long as the race lasts."

Seems you provoked the wrath of the gods and yet survived it. Really glad you're okay.
