John Keegan has died. The British military historian is regarded as preeminent in his field. His reputation is largely founded on "The Face of Battle," which should be read by anyone with even a passing interest in the realities of warfare across the centuries.

Oh man.
Loved his work. IMO, just about every book he wrote was an instant classic. Still he lived a long and successful life.
