KING CONAN: THE PHOENIX ON THE SWORD TP

Timothy Truman (W), Tomás Giorello (A), José Villarrubia ©, and Andrew Robinson (Cover)

On sale Feb 20

FC, 96 pages

$14.99

TP, 7” x 10”

King Conan is beset on all sides by scheming politicians plotting his demise! But the conspirators have chosen the wrong ally in Thoth-Amon. The barbarian king will need more than a strong arm and a sturdy ax to face the horrors at his chamber door!

• Timothy Truman, Tomás Giorello, and José Villarrubia adapt the classic Robert E. Howard adventure.

Wish they could've bulked it up to get it to at least 100 pages, but at least it's coming out.  Almost a year after the mini finished, that's quite a while.  Normally it's been in the six to nine month window, hasn't it?

This is going on my "Must Buy" list.
Maybe it's just my fondness for the old Creepy and Erie magazines, but I like the look of the cover.

And force upon Mankind the Freedom he fears--
And dead gods I will again defy?"

This was the best cover of the four but an new one by Giorello would be nice. It's a no brainer, if your on this board at all this is a must have.

There are some small changes from the original (Epimitreus mentions the past Conan and Thoth have, even though they only directly met like once)

Conan looks like he's had a mug too many. "Wha...? Where's ma sword?"

I guess I'm spoiled by the awesome art from the earliest Dark Horse Conan tales. That dude on that cover is a caricature of Conan--not Conan.

Don't worry about the cover. What is inside is one of the best Conan comics of all time.

Really.

I plan on buying this as well as the walking dead hardcover vol 8 asap! My poor wallet..........But, Crom takes a dump on my financial problems, and if I want to be a true warrior I would not complain!

Well, I bought it (like there was ever any doubt that I wouldn't). I'm just waiting on it to get here, now.

I looked for it today, but my comic shop said they aren't expecting it until next week. I just checked DH's website and it says Feb 13th, so maybe they changed it at a the last minute.

It wasn't just you, Midtown Comics has it listed for sale today. Didn't get a chance to swing by there today, maybe I'll go tomorrow and see if it's there. I know Amazon has it listed for Feb. 19, but that's probably the usual direct/mass market difference of about two weeks.

Thanks Johnny! Just called Epemitreus and - as usual - he blames Thoth-Amon. :D
