I hope this is the right spot for this....

I've started a blog where I'm going to be reading and providing synopses and other interesting information for Conan comic books, mostly as published by Marvel. I haven't found anything like this online, so I'm hoping it will be useful for everyone!

Looks good so far.
"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard

Definitely the right spot, Turko! Like IH said, the blog looks good. Something like this was needed on the Net for a long time. B) I hope to have time to comment on your reviews in the future. Those first 100 issues from Marvel are well worth taking another look at. I like how you've included factoids like award nominations.

BTW, welcome to the forum. :D

I plan on doing running tallies and basic summaries every 20-25 issues. Also, I'm still toying around with some of the categories, notably the "Supernatural" category. I thought about having separate categories for "Gods," "Monsters," etc. but I also didn't want to get carried away with a million different categories. So as of right now, it's just "Myths and Monsters," and includes gods, magic, monsters, non-humans, and basically anything else that comprises the "Sorcery" part of "Sword and Sorcery." I'll see how that works for a while.

Hi Turko,
I went to see your blog and there is a really good information in the first CtB issues, thans for your initiative.
There are many synopsis available in the Conan wikia so you might use them if you wish. They cover most of CtB ussues 1-92 and some for the rest, also some SSoC. The URL is http://conan.wikia.com section comics, CtB appear in it as http:conan.wikia.com/wiki/Conan_the_Barbarian_x where x is the issue number.
I have collected those synopsis in some html pages, I could make them available if you wish.

That's cool.... I had no idea that information was there; thanks for pointing it out! I will definitely use it in my research. It seems like there are some synopses out there, like on the wikia site, and apparently there's a multi-part chronology in Conan Saga. I'm hoping to bring something a little different to the table, though, like more detailed story summaries, different factoids, and a more complete database, since, as you said, the wikia site only covers a fraction of the issues.

By "there" you mean another site?

I just meant "there" as in, "out in the world," i.e., the wikia site and Conan Saga magazine. :)

Hey, folks....

I'm still figuring out all the ins and outs of the blogging website, but I just added the "Follow" feature, so you can stay updated as I add new issues. I'm sure there'll be more stuff to come to make the site more entertaining, so stay tuned!

Still diggin' the blog, Turko! BTW, in "Devil-Wings", Thomas said "Maldiz" mentioning a "falcon" was a nod to Hammett's The Maltese Falcon.

Nice blog! At the risk of sounding like a dumb 4th grader, I would suggest maybe adding a few pictures from each issue, or at least the covers.

Hey, fellows, thanks for the kind words. As you may have noticed, I haven't updated blog in like a month.... I'm still doing it, it's just that my comic book reading tends to come in spurts, so I'll probably be adding issues in chunks instead of on a regular basis. I'll also update the already listed issues with any facts or trivia I missed, so if you know anything go ahead and post it on the blog in the comment section or do it here (thanks, deuce, for the Maltese Falcon reference).

Turko! I see you still haven't updated it. Oh well, I get behind on hobbies myself. At some point, I'll go through the entries and see if there's anything else that might warrant comment/updating.

Merry Christmas! :)

Thanks for your summary of no. 8 Turko.

Interesting to read how Roy Thomas handled his adaptation of REH's Nestor Synopsis (otherwise known as The Hall of the Dead).

I have a few original (battered) copies of this series around somewhere.
“I think the real reason so many youngsters are clamoring for freedom of some vague sort, is because of unrest and dissatisfaction with present conditions; I don't believe this machine age gives full satisfaction in a spiritual way, if the term may be allowed. ”

Robert E Howard

“Do you try to write like the guys who write for the magazines you write for?” Clyde asked.

“Hell, no,” Bob was emphatic about that. “I let them try to write like me.”
