There's an intetrview with the writer, Jason Aaron, at
http://www.comicbook...rticle&id=40472
And I think a lot of us will like this:

I've always been a big fantasy reader. I love Tolkien, and Piers Anthony. I've read all of the Robert E. Howard Conan stories and all the Robert Jordan Conan books. I read a lot of fantasy growing up and this was just the right moment in my career where Thor seemed like the exact thing that I wanted to do.

And the art is by Esad Ribic, who painted the cover to REH's SAVAGE SWORD #1 from Dark Horse. There's 4 pages previewed at http://comicbook.com...el-now-preview/
It's looking impressive, eh?

FYI, #1 of the new THOR series by writer (and REH fan) Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribic (who painted the cover of Dark Horse's REH's SAVAGE SWORD #1) is out today!

Check out a new interview with Aaron at
http://www.usatoday....series/1703249/
with the quote we here should like (and have many wishing he was writing Dark Horse's CONAN series):

"I was a big sword-and-sorcery fan growing up, but I guess that's an itch I haven't really scratched in a very long time," says the writer, who reads "loads" of fantasy novels, especially the works of Conan the Barbarian creator Robert E. Howard.

"As a kid, the first story I ever tried to write was a fantasy adventure. So in some sense, I suppose I've been preparing for this gig for a very long time."

Also, there's a couple more pages from THOR #1. Young Thor's attitude does seem a bit more like Conan's in his own younger days. :)

In essence, we believe that the work of any creative artist -- writer, painter, illustrator, musician, what-have-you -- is a unique expression of an artistic point of view. It should not be appropriated or altered by others without the artist's consent. No other writer has Robert E. Howard's unique point of view, and no other writer knows what Howard would have done with his character had he lived. Upon his death, his canon, the expression of his artistic vision, became fixed. Tampering with it now is desecration."

Anyone reading this series? I just finished issue #2, and I'm really enjoying the story in addition to the art. I was never much of a Thor fan (besides the recent movies), having only read an issue or two in the past, but this is good!

I'm not trying it but I do admit it really looks good. Off-topic - you might enjoy the Walt Simonson's Thor series OA - it is my favorite Thor run from the good old days!

Simonson nailed it. Too bad DHC didn't rope in Ribic for Conan/REH (semi-permanently).

Waitaminnit! Lolos kicks butt! ;)
