Well, I haven't seenanybody else suggesting it, so how about these two as our hero and Belit?

He looks much too young to be playing the Cimmerian in anything after "Queen of the Black Coast."

Conan needs to be impressive the moment he walks into a room, and nothing about Taylor impressed me when I saw him in John Carter (though I think he did a fine job). Plus he's just too short and scrawny for our Cimmerian.

I agree with KG. Taylor played John Carter well but he does not fit Conan.

They need to find a great actor with the rugged pantherish build of Conan and a rugged face as well. Going pretty boy doesn't work for Conan in my opinion.

Taylor did well as Carter and with a better accent would have worked as gambit but he definetley is no Conan.Jason Momoa is pretty boy by most peoples standards and I thought he was great as Conan.

I'm not as concerned as much about "pretty boy" problems here. I don't think Kitsch would be good though. I just haven't seen him convincingly portray a central character. He just didn't have the charisma for John Carter. All the supporting actors in John Carter outshone him. Lynn Collins was excellent, and could be just about anything. Honestly, give her her own big character. Red Sonja or Dark Agnes.
He is grim and loveless, but at birth he breathes power to strive and slay into a man's soul. What else shall men ask of the gods?- Queen of the Black Coast

Ms. Collins is an acting machine (and sexy as hell). JC-wise, she owned every scene she was in. Naturally pale, she pulls off "bronze" just fine. I don't necessarily see her as Belit (I think she could do it), but maybe Taramis/Salome or Tascela might be better. Maybe a bit old for Zenobia.

Lynn Collins might be the only actress who could play Belit. Whoever plays Belit has to be able to deliver the passage where she confesses her love. If the actress can't do that, might as well leave the passage out.

But Tascela is a similar problem. She has to sound convincing in the scene where she dominates Valeria, culminating in the line "I am Tascela!" That line has to intimidate the audience, not make them laugh.

"Did you deem yourself strong, because you were able to twist the heads off civilized folk, poor weaklings with muscles like rotten string? Hell! Break the neck of a wild Cimmerian bull before you call yourself strong. I did that, before I was a full-grown man...!" - Conan, in "Shadows in Zamboula", by Robert E. Howard
"... you speak of Venarium familiarly. Perhaps you were there?"
"I was," grunted [Conan]. "I was one of the horde that swarmed over the hills. I hadn't yet seen fifteen snows, but already my name was repeated about the council fires." - "Beyond the Black River", by Robert E. Howard
