My Conan Movie Post

19 February 2005 - 12:44 AM

Sorry to devote a knew thread to a topic thats already in so many others, but its my first post so i wanted to say hi.

Know, im prepared to have everyone think im insane on this, but my pick is Thomas Jane.

If you've seen THE PUNISHER -even if you thought the movie sucked- you'll see how committed an Actor he can be, he put on some serious muscle for that film and trained for months with Navy Seals. He read all the comics, and even picked up a few nasty scars doing a lot of his own stunts. Thats surely what Conan needs, an actor first and foremost; one who will put on as much muscle as is needed, train in whatever is needed and read the source material. And i dont think he'd need to bulk up much more than he did for PUNISHER, at least not the way Conan is in my mind. He could use the same hair dye, and he already has the eyes. In fact, Jane's face is great for the weary warrior type.

As for the movie itself, i'd be inclined to use the basic framework of BLACK COLOSSUS but flesh it out and build it up. Throw in a few scenes and references to other Howard stories, an undead sorcerer, large armies, great battles and the story of Conan Rising from a mercenary to a General. I really think it could work.

Im no great fan of the previous films; but my approach would be neither to ignorethem  or tie into them, the story could avoid doing either so that it would be up to the viewer wether they count them or not.

Just my thoughts.

Hi, by the way.
