Of course... Conan's world is neither historical nor purely fictionnal, but pseudo-historical. For exemple, the Cimmerians did really exist : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cimmerian
Howard used it as a background, vague enough to develop freely his stories (which would have not been possible with better known ages, I think).

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Joan_of_ArcWell, here's a chance to get some info on some of the ladies who actualy did pick up a weapon and show the men that they were not the only ones who could weild steel and shed blood.

Merci pour l'accueil.
@Kane: I have so far read only a few of them... My first impression was not really positive, but I guess it was partly because I expected something a little different (Milius Conan seems not to be exactly Howard's...) and also because of the hardships I met with the understanding (my english vocabulary is a bit poor).
Yet, the more I get familiarized with both atmosphere and Howard's style, the more I appreciate it. It's still too soon for me to have a general appreciation, but I'm quite optimistic about it.

Hi everybody,
I'm Caddaric, 23, from Lyon, France.
I recently discovered Conan, via John Milius movie. Since then, I've become a huge fan - even after having seen its sequel.... - and I've just began to read Howard's novelettes.
Guess French fans are not too numerous here, isn't it ?
See you later.
