Ah hah, and these DVDs worked fine on my friend's Toshiba DVD player from Sears. He knew they would work since all of his Chinese DVDs work fine on it. He says "Just buy the cheapest DVD player. They play anything."

Overall review conclusion:
I'm nearing the end of the Australian DVD set. Every DVD has the same simple menu. They all play with the same good quality. There's 4 or 6 episodes in it that weren't present in my bootleg set. It was a real treat to see them. Overall, I'm satisfied with them. I recommend this set. If you're willing to pay the $140 bucks for it, you won't be disappointed.

It took several weeks, but Mr. DVD-R Copies finally gave me the refund. I decided to leave him neutral feedback.

My feedback: These are bootleg DVD-Rs with poor quality video/audio,refund took several weeks
Reply by paulgregory11: $3500 spent on leasing partial rights to that USA fans can enjoy this series
2nd Reply by paulgregory11: ^^^^ and that donk up there cursed me out cause his dvd player is 10 years old
3rd Reply by paulgregory11: ^^^^^ NOT bootleg lol, know your DVD players compatibility! 98% of them work!

I really hope no one actually believes he paid $3500 for rights and that DVDs play with poor quality on old players.

Torrents were the first thing I checked, actually. ^^;; I never found them. I don't think anyone ever posted them online. Out of curiousity I checked them right now, and I found that they added them recently! Someone ripped the 16 Australian DVDs into ISO images and put them online last week. Ack, they're 3 GB each, and with 1-5 seeds it'll take like three days to download each ISO. Despite these news, I'm still glad I purchased them. I don't have 48 GB to spare nor a DVD-RW drive to burn them. I don't think links to torrent sites are allowed here. I'll say looking up "conan adventurer torrent" on Google should take you to them.

Heh, nope. It's the same Conan that played here.

I've been playing them via my iBook G4 hooked up to the TV. The Apple DVD Player played it weird, occasionally making a slight flicker on the screen. I switched to VLC and its playing fine now.

Early this decade I purchased a VHS copies set of the Conan animated series. They were terrible quality, like, as if recorded from SLP to SLP. I think I paid around $50 for them. But it was worth every penny, because I enjoyed the cartoon much more than I did in my youth, despite the terrible quality of the tapes. There was also the fact that there was no other way to purchase the Conan cartoon. Some years passed and the Australian Conan cartoon DVDs came to my attention. I've been meaning to eventually purchase them. The other day I suddenly decided to check up on them. All the online stores I came across had several volumes missing or out of stock. That didn?t look good. In fear of the DVDs getting difficult to get in the future, I hesitated no longer with my decision to purchase them.

I thought I?d so some eBay research before I try those weird online stores on Google. I found this auction (for when it expires, here's a snapshot of it) selling what I thought were rips from the Australian DVDs since he was using the casing cover from them. I decided to give it a gamble and go with this auction; it was around $40 total. To my disappointment, these DVDs were ripped from poor quality VHS tapes, probably the same ones I have. But that's okay, since I knew these were copies from the get go I was ready for a bad scenario. I sent it back for a refund and he told me this:

just want u to know that you arein the minority on this. look at my feedback. most fans are just happy to have a copy of this show, cause they aprreciate the time and money i had to put into it in order to legally be allowed to have something for fans to own. unless u move to Australia, there is no other set.

Heh, I'm just informed unlike those other people. And quite saying what you're doing is legal, Mr. DVD-R Copies. Anyway, this was pretty recent so I'm still waiting for him to receive his DVDs and give me my refund. So...
EBAY WARNING: Don't buy from paulgregory11 or any other auctions claiming to distribute complete Conan cartoon DVD sets!

Pushing that aside, I went ahead and purchased the official Australian DVDs. I decided to purchase them through eBay as well. I got Volume 1 from this auction, which led me to his store, Entertainment House, where it was made easy to include the other 15 volumes into the transaction. Altogether it was AU $191.60, which exchanges to US $140.39. The DVDs were mailed on Monday and I received them today, Saturday. Yep, it's definitely a 16-DVD set:

So how did I expect to play these DVDs? I researched my DVD player, it doesn't have a region crack. :( I expected to play these DVDs on my computer. I've been told that VLC ignores region codes. VLC is a very compatible media player that can play almost anything; it's been ported to every OS. To my surprise, I learned I didn't have to use VLC. The Australian DVDs worked like US DVDs!! Yes, I just popped it in and Windows Media Player started playing it like nothing. Here's a screen shot of it playing on VLC (since Windows Media Player wouldn't let me snap it):

And here's a better snap of the DVD menu:

That's the only menu. They didn't put much effort into it. But that's okay, at least it gets to the point. This is the same DVD menu on each DVD. I tested the DVDs on other computers in the house and they worked fine. I suppose it's safe to say any computer with a DVD-ROM can play them. Any Mac users here? These Australian DVDs also worked perfectly fine on my iBook G4:

At this point I'm thinking "Wait a second, are these 'all region' DVDs in disguise??" ...and no. They didn't work on my Sony DVD player:

No inserts or anything; just the DVD. As for the video quality...

In terms of DVD quality, I would say it's moderate, which is still an overall good quality. To sum things up, here are all the ways I know of to play these DVDs:
- Any computer with a DVD-ROM.
- Every laptop has a means to connect to the TV. There are also video cards that have video out. With long video/audio chords, your computer can also be connected to the TV.
- Your DVD player--if it has a region crack. Google around for one of those sites that list DVD player cracks to see if one is listed for yours.
- Purchase one of those DVD players that ignore region codes. I don't know of any stores in particular, though. Google around.
- With DVD copying software (the naughty type that can copy commercial DVDs), copying a foreign DVD removes the region code.

And that concludes my adventures/review of the Australian Conan cartoon DVD set. I hope it rules out any lingering doubts or curiousities you may have had with them.

Not just 4 DVDs, the entire animated series was released in Australia last year. Freakin Australia of all places. You can easily find several websites selling these DVDs by searching with "conan adventurer dvd" on Google. Here's one of them:

The whole series was released as a whopping 16 DVDs (ouch). Better than nothing, I suppose. I've been dying to purchase them, but I'm a starving college student, pretty much. I'll eventually get them all, I don't care how much it costs. I'm tired of re-watching the poor quality bootleg VHS tapes I got early this decade, lol.

Black Corsair: For me the series was a definite blessing. I enjoyed it even more than when I did in my youth. The episodes are full of delicious fantasy and good stories.
